List Of NBL1 Champions
The champion teams of the NBL1 National Finals are determined by grand final championship games at the conclusion of the finals weekend. The men's and women's champion from each NBL1 conference competes at the NBL1 National Finals each year. The conferences include: South, North, Central, West and East. After the inaugural NBL1 season in 2019 consisted of only the South Conference, the 2020 NBL1 season was set to be first season with more than one conference and therefore National participation. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 and 2021 NBL1 National Finals were cancelled. The inaugural NBL1 National Finals took place in 2022 at the State Basketball Centre in Melbourne. The second annual NBL1 National Finals in 2023 was held at HBF Arena in Perth. NBL1
NBL1 is a semi-professional basketball list of basketball leagues, league in Australia, consisting of NBL1 South, South, NBL1 North, North, NBL1 Central, Central, NBL1 West, West and NBL1 East, East Conferences with both men's and women's competitions. Each conference is run by their respective state governing body, with the league including 76 clubs from across every state and territory. The league replaced the South East Australian Basketball League (SEABL), Australia's pre-eminent semi-professional basketball league between 1981 and 2018. Following the NBL1's inaugural season in 2019, the 2020 season saw the 2019 teams comprise the new South Conference and the former NBL1 North, Queensland Basketball League (QBL) and NBL1 Central, Premier League (South Australia) become the new North and Central Conferences. Frankston Blues is a NBL1 South club based in Melbourne. The club fields a team in both the Men's and Women's NBL1 South. The club is a division of Frankston & District Basketball Association (FDBA), the major administrative basketball organisation in City of Frankston. The Blues play their home games at Frankston Basketball Stadium. Club history Background The FDBA's origins can be traced back to 1959, when a group of students from the Frankston Teachers' College travelled to Albert Park for a tournament where they met other players from Frankston. Through these contacts made, a few games were organised to cater for the need in the Frankston area. The earliest games were played at the Balcombe Army Barracks. Rockingham Flames is an NBL1 West club based in Perth, Western Australia. The club fields a team in both the Men's and Women's NBL1 West. The club is a division of the Rockingham Basketball and Recreation Association (RBRA), the major administrative basketball organisation in the region. The Flames play their home games at Mike Barnett Sports Complex. Club history In the early 1970s, Rockingham and Districts Basketball Association was established. The Rockingham Flames made their debut in the State Basketball League (SBL) in 1992 in the form of a women's team, becoming the first club to introduce a women's program before a men's program. Bendigo Braves is a NBL1 South club based in Bendigo, Victoria. The club fields a team in both the Men's and Women's NBL1 South. The club is a division of the overarching Bendigo Braves Basketball Club, the major administrative basketball organisation in the region. The Braves play their home games at Bendigo Stadium. Arena Joondalup, known as HBF Arena under a commercial naming rights arrangement, is a multi-purpose sports complex in Joondalup, Western Australia, located on 35 ha of parkland approximately 25 km north of Perth. It was officially opened in 1994. An $11 million indoor aquatic centre, including a 50 m 10-lane competition pool, was completed in 2000. 2023 NBL1 Season
The 2023 NBL1 season was the fourth season of the NBL1. The season consisted of five conferences: South, North, Central, West and East. The second annual National Finals were held in Perth, with both NBL1 National champions coming from the South Conference, with the Bendigo Braves in the women and the Knox Raiders in the men. Background The NBL1 had expanded in 2022 with the East Conference introduced alongside the South, North, Central and West. No further expansion occurred in 2023. State Basketball Centre
The State Basketball Centre is a sports arena located in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia which is mainly used for basketball. However, the centre has been used for several other events. The stadium features six courts, including one basketball show court with seating for 3,200. Facilities cater primarily for basketball, with five courts being able to be configured for netball. The stadium houses the offices of Basketball Australia, Basketball Victoria, Knox Basketball Incorporated, South East Melbourne Phoenix and is the home of the WNBL's Melbourne Boomers. The stadium also hosts a select number of Phoenix home games each NBL season.
