Jamaica
Jamaica (; ) is an island country situated in the Caribbean Sea. Spanning in area, it is the third-largest island of the Greater Antilles and the Caribbean (after Cuba and Hispaniola). 2009 World Championships In Athletics – Men's 200 Metres
The men's 200 metres at the 2009 World Championships in Athletics was held at the Olympic Stadium, Berlin, Germany on August 18 and August 20. The race favourites were Tyson Gay and Usain Bolt. Gay entered the competition as the reigning world champion, championship record holder, and 200 m world leader with 19.58 seconds. Bolt, the current Olympic champion and world record holder, had a season's best of 19.59 seconds. The last time the two athletes raced was at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka, where Gay beat Bolt by a margin of 0.15 seconds. Hayward Field
Hayward Field is a track and field stadium in the northwest United States, located on the campus of the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon. It has been the home of the university's track and field teams since 1921, and was the on-campus home of the varsity football team from 1919 through 1966. Track and field competitions at the stadium are organized by the not-for-profit organization TrackTown USA. Hayward Field was named after track coach Bill Hayward (1868–1947), who ran the Ducks' program from 1904 to 1947. 2022 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track And Field Championships
The 2022 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships was the 100th NCAA Division I Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships and the 40th NCAA Division I Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon on the campus of the University of Oregon. 42 events (21 men's and 21 women's) were contested from Wednesday, June 8 until Saturday, June 11, starting with the men's decathlon and ending with the women's relay. Men's events were held on Wednesday and Friday, and women's events were held on Thursday and Saturday, with the exception of the men's decathlon which extended from Wednesday into Thursday and the women's heptathlon which began on Friday and ended on Saturday. Navasky Anderson
Navasky Anderson (born 21 January 2000) is a Jamaican middle-distance runner. He represented Jamaica in the 800m at the 2022 World Athletics Championships and finished fifth at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. He is the Jamaican national record holder over 800 metres both indoors and outdoors. Early life Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Anderson attended St. Jago High School and Essex County College before starting at Mississippi State University in 2020. Career 2022 Anderson ran 1:45.02 at the NCAA Championships final at Hayward Field to break the Jamaican national record over 800 metres and finish runner-up to Moad Zahafi. 800 Metres
The 800 metres, or meters ( US spelling), is a common track running event. It is the shortest commonly run middle-distance running event. The 800 metres is run over two laps of an outdoor (400-metre) track and has been an Olympic event since the first modern games in 1896. During the winter track season the event is usually run by completing four laps of an indoor 200-metre track. The event was derived from the imperial measurement of a half mile (880 yards), a traditional English racing distance. 800m is 4.67m less than a half mile. The event combines aerobic endurance with anaerobic conditioning and sprint speed, so the 800m athlete has to combine training for both. Runners in this event are occasionally fast enough to also compete in the 400 metres but more commonly have enough endurance to 'double up' in the 1500m. The men's 400 metres at the 2015 World Championships in Athletics was held at the Beijing National Stadium on 23, 24 and 26 August. Summary Since 2008, all of the major gold medals had been won by either reigning Olympic champion Kirani James or defending champion LaShawn Merritt. In the final, both were out ahead, along with Wayde van Niekerk and Isaac Makwala, Africans with none of those credentials. Through the final turn, van Niekerk took sole possession of the lead, Makwala passed James to hit the home stretch with a slight advantage in second. Far off the pace was Luguelín Santos. Down the home stretch, Makwala was unable to hold his position and was passed by a burst from James. Rusheen McDonald (born 17 August 1992) is a Jamaican sprinter. Competing at the 2012 Summer Olympics, Rusheen was in the 400 metres and 4 x 400 metres relay. Rusheen qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics, after placing second in the 400 metres at the Jamaican Olympic Trials, with a time of 45.1 seconds. In the 400 preliminaries at the Olympics, Rusheen placed fourth in his heat with a time of 46.67 seconds, failing to qualify for the semi-finals.
