Renzo Martens (born 1973 in Terneuzen) is a Dutch artist who currently lives and works in Amsterdam and Kinshasa. Martens became known for his controversial work, including Episode III: Enjoy Poverty (2008), a documentary that suggests that the Congo market their poverty as a natural resource. In 2010 Renzo Martens initiated the art institutHuman Activitiesthat postulates a gentrification program on a palm oil plantation in the Congolese rainforest. Biography Renzo Martens studied Political Science at the University of Nijmegen and art at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (KASK) in Ghent and the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. In 2010 Martens got approved as an artist-in-residence at the ISCP program in New York. In 2013 the artist attended the Yale World Fellows Program, the leadership program of Yale University. Musical film is a film genre in which songs by the characters are interwoven into the narrative, sometimes accompanied by dancing. VPRO
The VPRO (stylized vpro; originally an acronym for , ) is a Dutch public broadcaster, which forms a part of the Dutch public broadcasting system. Founded in 1926 as a liberal Protestant broadcasting organization, it gradually became more social liberal than Protestant in the 1950s and 1960s, and the original meaning of the acronym was eventually dropped. In 1967, VPRO was the first broadcaster in the Netherlands to show a nude woman – Phil Bloom – on national television. The VPRO is known for sometimes producing avant-garde programs, documentaries and films. The target audience of the VPRO consists mainly of highly educated and creative people (e.g. artists, designers, scientists). Peter Hegedüs (born 21 August 1976) is a Hungarian/Australian writer, director and producer of both documentary and fiction films. He is also the grandson of the former Prime Minister of Hungary, András Hegedüs. Hegedüs' work explores critical social justice issues. His most recent film, ''Sorella's Story,'' was selected to screen at the Venice International Film Festival. Early life Peter Hegedüs was born in Budapest, Hungary and moved with his mother and his sister to Brisbane, Australia in 1991.
