GP2 Asia Series
The GP2 Asia Series was a form of open wheel motor racing as a result of a spin-off from the GP2 series. The series was officially announced during the weekend of the 2007 Monaco Grand Prix. GP2 series organiser Bruno Michel commented that "It is of great importance that the GP2 Asia Series maintains a strong and viable link to Formula One. Our inclusion as the support races on the programme of Asian Grands Prix in 2008 is an essential key in this new venture". The first season ran during the main GP2 series off season, January–April, with five two-race meetings. It ran alongside the new Speedcar Series, and the events in Malaysia and Bahrain acted as support races for the Formula One championship. In effort to promote motor racing in Asia, each team is encouraged to have at least one driver whose passport does not come from Western Europe or the Americas (North and South). Mika Mäki
Mika Mäki (born February 27, 1988) is a Finnish former racing driver. Career Mika started in karting, and competed for five years before heading to Germany and its Formula BMW ADAC series in 2005, finishing fourth in the Rookie Cup, and took his first victory at the Norisring. He moved to the Eifelland Racing Team for the 2006 season, finishing as runner-up with nine podiums. In 2007 Mäki got a seat in the Red Bull Junior Team. He was one of eighteen drivers selected for the programme of developing young talented drivers towards Formula One. During the season he won five rounds and gained the title of Italian Formula Renault Champion. For the 2008 season Mika signed with Mücke Motorsport to compete in the F3 Euroseries. He opened the season with a victory in Hockenheimring. He finished the season 5th in the results with two wins and 5 podiums. Andrea Caldarelli
Andrea Caldarelli (born 14 February 1990 in Pescara) is an Italian racing driver. He has competed in such series as Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0, the Formula Three Euroseries, GP2 Asia, the GP3 Series and the Super Formula series. He undertook a Formula One test in 2008 with Toyota Racing and in 2010 with Ferrari. Career Super GT Caldarelli claimed his maiden victory in Super GT in 2014. Driving alongside Daisuke Itō for Lexus Team KeePer TOM'S, Caldarelli claimed victory in the opening race of the season at Okayama. Marcello Puglisi
Marcello Puglisi (born May 17, 1986 in Trescore Balneario) is an Italian racing driver. Career Formula Renault Puglisi began his car racing career by driving in the Italian Formula Renault Championship and Formula Renault Eurocup in 2003. He remained in the Italian series for three years, with a best finish of 13th in the drivers' championship. In 2003 and 2005 he competed in a total of six Eurocup events, failing to score any points in the process. Formula Three In 2005, Puglisi also drove in one race of the Italian Formula Three Championship, scoring three points at his first and only attempt at the formula. Luca Filippi
Luca Filippi (born 9 August 1985 in Savigliano, Italy) is an Italian auto racing driver. He competed in GP2 Series from 2006 to 2012, and the IndyCar Series from 2013 to 2016. In 2008 he was the official Honda Racing F1 test driver. Career Formula Renault Filippi made the step out of karting in 2003, competing in Formula Renault 2.0 Italia, where he finished third in 2004 behind Pastor Maldonado and Kohei Hirate. Formula 3000 Filippi stepped up to the Italian Formula 3000 series in 2005, driving for Giancarlo Fisichella's Fisichella Motorsport team. He also made his Formula One test debut in 2005 with Minardi in the team's last test. Marco Bonanomi
Marco Bonanomi (born 12 March 1985 in Lecco) is an Italian professional racing driver. Career Formula Renault Bonanomi began his car racing career in 2001 by competing in a few rounds of the Formula Renault Eurocup and Italian Formula Renault championships with the Cram Competition team. He took part in the same series in 2002, but moved to the RP Motorsport team. Four years later, Bonanomi drove in four races of the 2006 Formula Renault 3.5 Series season for Tech 1 Racing, starting his current career trend. Davide Valsecchi (born 24 January 1987) is an Italian former racing driver and the 2012 GP2 Series champion. Career Formula Renault Valsecchi drove in Renault-based series from 2003 to 2007, rising from Italian Formula Renault and the Formula Renault Eurocup to the more powerful cars of the World Series by Renault in 2006. He won one race in the categories during this period, in the WSR during the 2007 season. Armaan Ebrahim
Armaan Ebrahim (born 17 May 1989) is a car racer from Chennai, India. He is the son of the ex-Indian F3 champion Akbar Ebrahim. Career Ebrahim started his career in karting and became Formula LGB Champion in 2004. He later moved to Formula BMW Asia for the 2005 season. During the same year he represented A1 Team India in the A1 Grand Prix Championship, driving in 6 races, before the team was disbanded due to lack of funds. He again drove for A1 Team India Part Season in the 2006–07 A1 Grand Prix season. In 2007 he also drove in Formula V6 Asia where he captured five race wins and finished second in points. Karun Chandhok (born 19 January 1984) is an Indian racing driver and television presenter who last competed in Formula E for Mahindra Racing. Christian Vietoris (; ; born 1 April 1989) is a German racing driver. He competed in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters, most recently for HWA Team.
