Balkans Cup
The Balkans Cup was an international football competition for clubs from Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Turkey, and Yugoslavia. It was introduced in 1961 and was very popular in the 1960s (the 1967 final attracted 42,000 spectators), being the second most important international club competition for clubs from the region (after the European Champions' Cup in which the champions could play; the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup originally attracted few teams from the region as many did not organise domestic cups regularly and only Yugoslavia had significant representation in the Fairs Cup). The competition has been dominated by Bulgaria-based teams. The Bulgarian teams have won together a total number of 9 titles. It later declined after Balkan clubs obtained more representation in the two minor UEFA competitions, in contrast to the (much older but also defunct) Balkan Cup for national teams. Harald Schumacher
Harald Anton "Toni" Schumacher (born 6 March 1954) is a German former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. At club level, he won a Bundesliga title and three DFB-Pokal titles with 1. FC Köln. At international level, he represented West Germany. Schumacher won the 1980 European Championship and lost two World Cup finals, in 1982 and 1986. In the 1982 FIFA World Cup semi-final, he controversially collided with and seriously injured French defender Patrick Battiston. Schumacher was voted German Footballer of the Year in 1984 and 1986. Şenol Çorlu
Şenol Çorlu (born 3 December 1958 in Ankara) is a retired Turkish football player and currently Fenerbahçe SK academy director as of September 2008. He was one of the fans' favourites when he was playing for Fenerbahçe. He began football in Petrol Ofisi in 1975–76 season and played there for 4 years. He was transferred to Orduspor due to Petrol Ofisi's relegation to the amateur league in 1979. He improved in Orduspor and was transferred to Sakaryaspor in 1981. He played as striker there, and was transferred to Fenerbahçe in 1984. His position was striker at first, midfielder after 1990. He won 2 league championships with Fenerbahçe – seasons 1984–85 and 1988–89. He was loaned to Antalyaspor during the 1991–92 season. He retired from football after the end of that season. Müjdat Yetkiner (born 16 November 1961) is a former professional footballer who played as a defender or midfielder. He is the most capped Turkish player in the history of Fenerbahçe with 763 caps. Cem PamiroÄŸlu
Cem Pamiroğlu (born 17 September 1957) is Turkish former footballer who played as a left-back, most notably for Fenerbahçe. Biography Pamiroğlu was born on 17 September 1957 in Istanbul. He started his career in Fenerbahçe PAF then up to Fenerbahçe in 1975. He won three Turkish League titles and two Turkish Cup with Fenerbahçe. He also played 23 times for Turkey, six times for Turkey U21 and 14 times for Turkey U18. He capped 508 times for Fenerbahçe and been fourth most capped (after Müjdat Yetkiner, Lefter Küçükandonyadis and Şeref Has). He was initially loaned to Sarıyer in 1986 and finally transferred to Sarıyer in 1987 and played for her two seasons before his retirement in 1989. Cemil Turan
Cemil Turan (born 1 January 1947 in Istanbul) is a former Turkish football player and the current director of Fenerbahçe S.K. Academy. Career He debuted at Sarıyer G.K. when he was 14. He transferred first to Istanbulspor and then to Fenerbahçe, where he won 3 league championship titles (1974, 1975, 1978). He was three times league topscorer with 14 goals in 1974 and with 17 goals in 1976 and 1978. He scored 194 lifetime goals. Turan scored 19 goals at his 44 games with the Turkish national football team between 1969 and 1979. He ranks 4th with this notable performance still today. After his retirement in 1980, Turan served at various administrative positions first in Istanbulspor and then in Fenerbahçe. He is currently coordinator for the sporting infrastructure of Fenerbahçe. The TSYD Cup ( tr, Türk Spor Yazarları Derneği Kupası, Turkish Sports Writers Association Cup) was a friendly football competition in Turkey. The tournament started in 1963. It was played throughout six regions in Turkey: Adana, Ankara, Istanbul, İzmir, Konya, and Trabzon. Can Bartu
Can Bartu (31 January 1936 – 11 April 2019) was a Turkish basketball and football player of Circassian origin. He was the first Turkish footballer to play a final in Europe. His statue was erected in Istanbul. After retirement, he also worked as a pundit and sports journalist. Personal life Bartu was considered a "legendary" footballer, and was nicknamed the "Sinyor" (from Italian "Signor" for nobleman). After his retirement, he wrote columns long time for the daily ''Hürriyet''. Can Bartu died at the age of 83 on 11 April 2019.
