Futebol Clube do Porto is a Portuguese sports club based in Porto, which is best known for its professional association football team. They played their first match in 1893, but only won their first trophy in 1911. Two years later, Porto began competing in a regional championship, and in 1922 they won the inaugural edition of the Campeonato de Portugal, the first nationwide club competition, to become the first Portuguese champions. In 1934, an experimental two-tier league competition was introduced in Portuguese football; four years later, the first-level Primeira Liga was officially established as the top-tier league championship, from which Porto have never been relegated. Vítor Baía
Vítor Manuel Martins Baía, OIH (; born 15 October 1969) is a Portuguese retired footballer who played as a goalkeeper. One of the most decorated goalkeepers of all time, his career was intimately connected with FC Porto, which he started representing professionally still in his teens, helping it to 25 titles and eventually remaining with the club in an ambassadorial role. Also having played for Barcelona, Baía appeared with the Portugal national team in two European Championships and the 2002 World Cup. Estádio Das Antas
The Estádio das Antas (officially Estádio do Futebol Clube do Porto) was the third (and longest occupied) stadium of the Portuguese football side FC Porto. It was in use from 1952 to 2004, replacing the earlier Campo da Constituição, 1.6km (1 mile) to the west, and later replaced by the Estádio do Dragão, a block southeast away. As well as the stadium, it had an indoor arena and three training grounds. The club's offices were also split between the inside of the stadium and the ''Torre das Antas'', built in front of the stadium during the 1990s. It was demolished in 2004, although one floodlight still remains, and the majority of the site is not yet redeveloped. Layout The stadium was split into six different areas. 1939–40 Primeira Divisão
The 1939–40 Primeira Liga, Primeira Divisão season was the sixth season of Portuguese football league system, top-tier Association football, football in Portugal. The season was marked by a controversy regarding the teams qualified from Porto FA Regional Championship. Due to an administrative battle between FC Porto and Académico do Porto regarding a Regional Championship game that ended with only 43 minutes after the start and later repeated (which FC Porto won) according to a Porto FA decision, the Portuguese Federation came out with a decision to satisfy both clubs, expanding Primeira Divisão to 10 teams (one more from Porto FA and another from Setúbal FA) and annulling the result from the repetition match. With this decision, FC Porto lost the Regional title and finished third; Leixões SC became the new regional champion, ahead second-placed Académico. The 2021–22 Taça de Portugal (also known as Taça de Portugal Placard for sponsorship reasons) is the 82nd edition of the Taça de Portugal, the premier knockout competition in Portuguese football. A total of 154 clubs compete in this edition, including all teams from the top four tiers of the Portuguese football league system – excluding reserve or B teams, which are not eligible – and representatives of the fifth-tier District leagues and cups. The competition will begin on 9 September 2021 with the first-round matches involving teams from the third and fourth tiers, and concluded on 22 May 2022 with the final at the Estádio Nacional in Oeiras. 1987 Intercontinental Cup
The 1987 Intercontinental Cup was an association football match played on 13 December 1987 between Porto of Portugal, winners of the 1986–87 European Cup, and Peñarol of Uruguay, winners of the 1987 Copa Libertadores. The match was played at the neutral venue of the National Stadium in Tokyo in front of 45,000 fans.
