The following is a list of every club which has competed in the Women's Super League - the highest level of women's football in England - since its inception in 2011. All statistics here refer to time in the WSL only (excludes Spring Series), with the exception of 'most recent finish' (which refers to all levels of play) and 'last promotion' (which refers to the club's last promotion from a lower tier). For the 'top scorer' and 'most appearances' columns, those in bold still play in the WSL for the club shown. WSL teams playing in the 2023–24 season are indicated in bold, while founding members are shown in ''italics''. If the highest finish is that of the most recent season, then this is also shown in bold. Women's Super League
The Women's Super League (WSL), currently known as the Barclays Women's Super League (BWSL) for sponsorship reasons, is the highest league of women's football in England. Established in 2010, it is run by the Football Association and features twelve fully professional teams. The league replaced the FA Women's Premier League National Division as the highest level of women's football in England, with eight teams competing in the 2011 FA WSL, inaugural 2011 season. In the WSL's first two seasons, there was no relegation from the division. The WSL discarded the winter football season for six years, between 2011 and 2016, playing through the summer instead (from March until October). Since 2017–18 FA WSL, 2017–18, the WSL has operated as a winter league running from September to May, as was traditional before 2011. 2015 FA WSL
The 2015 season of the Women's Super League was the fifth season of the FA WSL, the top-level women's football league of England. The season was played from 25 March to 4 October. Liverpool were the defending champions from the 2014 FA WSL. Chelsea became the title winners and together with Manchester City (who finished as runners-up) qualified for the 2016–17 UEFA Women's Champions League. This was the second season since the WSL 2 was introduced. As part of a two-year expansion plan, the WSL 1 will increase to nine teams for the 2016 season. By the end of the 2015 season two teams (Reading and Doncaster Rovers Belles) were promoted from WSL 2 to WSL 1 and only one team ( Bristol Academy) relegated to WSL 2, with one team being promoted from Premier League to WSL 2. Kingston Upon Thames
Kingston upon Thames (hyphenated until 1965, colloquially known as Kingston) is a town in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, southwest London, England. It is situated on the River Thames and southwest of Charing Cross. It is notable as the ancient market town in which Saxon kings were crowned and today is the administrative centre of the Royal Borough. Historically in the county of Surrey, the ancient parish of Kingston became absorbed in the Municipal Borough of Kingston-upon-Thames, reformed in 1835. Loren Dykes
Loren Dykes (born 5 February 1988) is a football coach and player who is the assistant coach for Bristol City and a player for Cardiff City and the Wales women's national football team. Dykes began her playing career as a winger or forward before being converted into a full-back. She won her 100th cap for Wales on 4 April 2019, in a friendly against the Czech Republic, at Rodney Parade in Newport. Early life Dykes attended Cwmtawe Community School and also played for Llanelli Reds. Club career Dykes started with Cardiff City Ladies and featured in the UEFA Women's Cup with the Bluebirds, before signing for Bristol Academy during 2008–09. Dykes played in the 2011 FA Women's Cup final as a winger, then in the 2013 final having retrained as a right-back. Bristol lost both finals to Arsenal. Natalia Teresa Pablos Sanchón (born 15 October 1985), known simply as Natalia, is a Spanish former Association football, footballer who played as a Forward (association football), forward. She spent most of her club career at Rayo Vallecano (women), Rayo Vallecano and was a member of the Spain women's national football team, Spain women's national team. Club career Until 2013 she was the Captain (association football), captain of Rayo Vallecano (women), Rayo Vallecano women's team, where she played since the club's foundation in 2000. At Rayo, Natalia won three Primera División (women), Leagues and one Copa de la Reina, Spanish Cup. Failand
Failand is a village in Somerset, England. It lies within the civil parish of Wraxall and Failand and the unitary authority area of North Somerset. The village has two separate parts. Failand itself is on the B3128 Bristol to Clevedon road, and is the newer and larger part. Lower Failand, a mile away, is the original village (shown as Fayland on old maps). Lower Failand can be reached by single track lanes only. Failand is home to a general store, a pub (The Failand Inn), an observatory, a church and a well used village hall. Landmarks Tyntesfield is a gothic house and estate acquired by the National Trust in 2002 after a national fund-raising campaign. It has now been restored, and is open to visitors.
