Casey Kasem
Kemal Amin "Casey" Kasem (April 27, 1932 – June 15, 2014) was an American disc jockey, actor, and radio personality, who created and hosted several radio countdown programs, notably '' American Top 40''. He was the first actor to voice Norville "Shaggy" Rogers in the ''Scooby-Doo'' franchise (1969 to 1997 and 2002 to 2009) and as Dick Grayson/Robin in ''Super Friends'' (1973–1985). Kasem began hosting the original ''American Top 40'' on the weekend of July 4, 1970, and remained there until 1988. He would then spend nine years hosting another countdown titled ''Casey's Top 40'', beginning in January 1989 and ending in February 1998, before returning to revive ''American Top 40'' in 1998. Salah-Hassan Hanifes ( ar, صالح حسن خنيفس, he, סאלח-חסן ח'ניפס; 1 March 1913 – 16 March 2002) was a Druze Israeli politician who served as a member of the Knesset for Progress and Work between 1951 and 1959. Biography Born in Shefa-'Amr in 1913 during the Ottoman era, Hanifes studied at a primary school in his village, before attending a Druze religious centre in Lebanon. During the 1930s he made contacts with the Haganah, and helped enlist Druze during the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. In 1949 he was appointed to the Supreme Druze Council established by the government. Two years later he was elected to the Knesset as leader of the Progress and Work list, which was allied to Mapai, the ruling party. Amal Nasser El-Din
Amal Nasser el-Din ( ar, أمل نصر الدين, he, אמל נסראלדין; born 31 July 1928) is an Israeli Druze author and former politician who served as a member of the Knesset for Likud between 1977 and 1988. Biography El-Din was born in Daliyat al-Karmel during the Mandate era. He headed the section for demobilised soldiers from 1961 and 1964, and became director of the Yad LeBanim memorial project for killed Druze, Bedouin and Circassian IDF soldiers in 1969. From 1964 until 1971 he served as secretary of the Daliyat al-Karmel and Isfiya Workers Council. In 1969 his son Lutfi was killed on his last day of his national service. In 2008 his grandson, also named Lutfi, was killed during Operation Cast Lead. Originally a member of Mapai, he joined Herut in 1971. Zeidan Atashi (, he, זיידאן עטשי; born 10 May 1940) is an Israeli Druze former diplomat and politician who served as a member of the Knesset for the Democratic Movement for Change and Shinui between 1977 and 1981, and again from 1984 until 1988. Biography Born in Isfiya during the Mandate era, Atashi studied Arabic language and political science for a BA at the University of Haifa, before gaining an MA in political science at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He worked for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and was the country's consul-general in New York City between 1972 and 1976. In 1977 he joined the new Democratic Movement for Change (Dash), and was elected to the Knesset on the party's list in the 1977 elections. When Dash split the following year, he joined Shinui. Hamad Amar ( ar, حمد عمار, he, חָמַד עַמַאר; born 5 November 1964) is an Israeli Druze politician who currently serves as a member of Knesset for Yisrael Beiteinu since 2022, previously serving from 2009 to 2019 and again from 2019 to 2021. Amar also served as a Minister in the Finance Ministry from 2021 to 2022. Biography Hamed Amar was born in Shefa-'Amr. In 1982-1986, he served in the Israel Defense Forces. He earned a BA in sociology from Safed College, and a law degree from the Academic Center for Law and Science. Amar lives in Shfaram's al-Fuar neighbourhood. He is married, with three children. Abdullah Abu Ma'aruf ( ar, عبد الله أبو معروف, he, עבדאללה אבו מערוף; born 30 December 1956) is an Israeli Druze doctor and politician. He served as a member of the Knesset for the Joint List between 2015 and 2017. Biography Born in Yarka, Abu Ma'aruf studied medicine in the Soviet Union after receiving a scholarship from the Israeli Communist Party, and gained Russian citizenship. He specialised in urology and family medicine, and currently works at Carmel Medical Centre. He was amongst the first conscientious objectors in the Druze community, and is an active member of Physicians for Human Rights. Biography Abu Rokan was born in Isfiya during the Ottoman Empire, Ottoman era. During the 1936–1939 Arab revolt in Palestine, Arab revolt in the late 1930s, he was involved in establishing links with Abba Hushi (secretary of Haifa Workers Council) and the Haganah, and was also a member of the Histadrut-affiliated Union of Workers in Eretz Yisrael. During the 1948 Arab-Israeli War he recruited Druze volunteers to fight in the Israel Defense Forces.
