The Dreamcast is a home video game console by Sega, the first one introduced in the sixth generation of video game consoles. With the release of the Dreamcast in 1998 amid the dot-com bubble and mounting losses from the development and introduction of its new home console, Sega made a major gamble in attempting to take advantage of the growing public interest in the Internet by including online capabilities in the console as a selling point. As such, the Dreamcast was the first console to include a built-in modem for Internet support and online play. Sega would end up leaning heavily into the online capabilities to sell the Dreamcast as hype grew for Sony's then-upcoming competitor, the PlayStation 2, which also promised online gaming in addition to its DVD capabilities. Amusement Vision
is a video game developer housed within the Japanese video game company Sega as part of its division. It is known for developing the games in the ''Yakuza'' series, which the studio is named after, since ''Yakuza 5''. The studio's origins can be traced back to Sega AM11 in 1998, which was renamed to R&D4 or AM4 in 1999. It was headed by Toshihiro Nagoshi who joined Sega AM2 in 1989 and been credited as the creator of the arcade titles ''Daytona USA'' and '' Virtua Striker.'' He requested his own development division during the development of ''Shenmue''. In 2000, AM4 was reestablished as Amusement Vision, where it was best known for ''Super Monkey Ball'' and ''F-Zero GX''. Several structural changes occurred in the years that followed. Crave Entertainment was an American video game publisher founded in 1997 by Nima Taghavi. Its headquarters was in Newport Beach, California. It was acquired by Handleman Company in 2005 in a deal valued up to $95,000,000 but was then sold to Fillpoint LLC in early 2009 for only $8,100,000 due to Handleman's bankruptcy and pending liquidation. During its lifetime it published games for Dreamcast, Wii, Nintendo DS, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo 64, GameCube, PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PSP, Xbox, and Xbox 360. ''NCAA College Football 2K2: Road to the Rose Bowl'', also known as simply ''NCAA College Football 2K2'', is an American football video game developed by Visual Concepts and Avalanche Software, in association with Sega. It was released in 2001 for the Sega Dreamcast. The cover athlete is former Purdue standout quarterback Drew Brees. The game was the first of two college football games developed by Visual Concepts and Avalanche Software, the second being '' NCAA College Football 2K3''. The game features season mode, hopefully leading up to the Rose Bowl, and Legacy Mode, where the player can follow their team for a few years. It also features online play and customizable plays, players, and teams. The Sugar, Orange, and Fiesta bowls aren't licensed although all other bowls represented are.
