Dan Dickerson calls play-by-play while former Tigers catcher Jim Price serves as the color analyst during home games; both double as pre-game and post-game show hosts. Bobby Scales serves as the primary analyst for road games as of the 2023 season. The games are available online as well via Audacy. Detroit Tigers
The Detroit Tigers are an American professional baseball team based in Detroit. The Tigers compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member of the American League (AL) Central division. One of the AL's eight charter franchises, the club was founded in Detroit as a member of the minor league Western League in 1894 and is the only Western League team still in its original city. Ernie Harwell
William Earnest Harwell (January 25, 1918 – May 4, 2010) was an American sportscaster, known for his long career calling play-by-play of Major League Baseball games. For 55 seasons, 42 of them with the Detroit Tigers, Harwell called the action on radio and/or television. In January 2009, the American Sportscasters Association ranked Harwell 16th on its list of Top 50 Sportscasters of All Time. Andy Dirks
Andrew Lee Dirks (born January 24, 1986) is an American former professional baseball outfielder. He attended Haven High School in Haven, Kansas, and was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in 2008. Dirks made his Major League Baseball (MLB) debut with the Tigers in 2011. He played all three outfield positions in his three seasons in the major leagues. College career Dirks attended Wichita State University, where he played for the Wichita State Shockers baseball team. In 2007, his junior year, he boasted a .320 batting average, 31 runs batted in and 19 stolen base, steals. He had previously played two seasons at Hutchinson Community College. Dan Petry
Daniel Joseph Petry ( ; born November 13, 1958) is an American former Major League Baseball pitcher for the Detroit Tigers (1979–87 and 1990–91), California Angels (1988–89), Atlanta Braves (1991) and Boston Red Sox (1991). He currently serves as a studio analyst for the Detroit Tigers on Bally Sports Detroit. Playing career Petry helped the Tigers win the 1984 World Series and the 1987 American League Eastern Division, and helped the Braves win the 1991 National League pennant. John Keating (sportscaster)
John Keating is a Bally Sports Detroit host and reporter. He was born in Madison Heights, Michigan. He attended Grand Valley State University. In 2019, Keating won his 16th local Emmy from the Michigan chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Radio career Keating began his broadcasting career while a student at Grand Valley State University. Keating climbed through the ranks of WSRX, Grand Valley's own student run radio station, from broadcaster up to Station Manager. Keating's rise at WSRX led to a job at WZZR, now WLHT, a radio station in nearby Grand Rapids. WZZR already had an on-air personality named "John" on staff. Al Kaline
Albert William Kaline ( ; December 19, 1934 – April 6, 2020), nicknamed "Mr. Tiger", was an American professional baseball right fielder who played 22 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Detroit Tigers. For most of his career, Kaline played in the outfield, mainly as a right fielder where he won ten Gold Glove Awards and was known for his strong throwing arm. He was selected to 18 All-Star Games, including selections each year between 1955 and 1967. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1980, his first time on the ballot. Near the end of his career, Kaline also played as first baseman and, in his last season, was the Tigers' designated hitter. He retired soon after reaching the 3,000 hit milestone. Lary Alan Sorensen (born October 4, 1955) is an American former Major League Baseball (MLB) pitcher who played for the Milwaukee Brewers (1977–1980), St. Louis Cardinals (1981), Cleveland Indians (1982–1983), Oakland Athletics (1984), Chicago Cubs (1985), Montreal Expos (1987) and San Francisco Giants (1988). Frank Beckmann
Frank Carl Beckmann (November 3, 1949February 12, 2022) was a German-born American broadcaster and talk radio host on WJR in Detroit, Michigan. He also was the radio play-by-play announcer for University of Michigan football from 1981 to 2013. Early life Beckmann was born in Kiel, West Germany, on November 3, 1949. His family immigrated to the United States when he was two years old and settled in east Detroit. They relocated to nearby Warren during his sophomore year because Cousino High School had a radio station and offered courses in radio. Robert Courtland Rathbun (born November 25, 1954) is an American sportscaster, motivational speaker, and author. He has been the television play-by-play announcer for the Atlanta Hawks basketball games on Bally Sports South since 1996. He is the play-by-play announcer for the NBA Atlanta Hawks, and the WNBA Atlanta Dream. He is currently partnered with Dominique Wilkins, a nine-time NBA All-Star and player for the Hawks. Rick Rizzs (born November 17, 1953) is an American sportscaster and is the lead radio voice for Major League Baseball's Seattle Mariners. Early life and career Rizzs is from Blue Island, Illinois, where he attended Eisenhower High School, and he is a 1975 graduate of Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. From 1975 to 1980, he handled baseball play-by-play duties at the double-A level for Alexandria, Louisiana, Amarillo, Texas and Memphis, Tennessee. He became the sports director at WBNS radio in Columbus, Ohio in 1981, where he called Ohio State football and triple-A baseball for two seasons. Paul Carey (broadcaster)
Paul Carey (March 15, 1928 – April 12, 2016) was an American broadcaster and sportscaster who broadcast professionally in six different decades. He is a member of the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame. Early life Carey was born in Mount Pleasant, Michigan on March 15, 1928. His parents were Joseph P. Carey, a geography professor at Central Michigan University, and Ida B. Carey. He graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1946, attended Central Michigan from 1946 to 1948 and then Michigan State University from 1948 to 1950, graduating with a B.A. in Speech, Radio and Dramatics. His broadcast career was interrupted in 1950 with the outbreak of the Korean War. Carey was drafted in October 1950 and served in the Fourth Infantry Division, the first NATO division.
