Chevrolet ( ), colloquially referred to as Chevy and formally the Chevrolet Motor Division of General Motors Company, is an American automobile division of the American manufacturer General Motors (GM). Louis Chevrolet (1878–1941) and ousted General Motors founder William C. Durant (1861–1947) started the company on November 3, 1911 as the Chevrolet Motor Car Company. Durant used the Chevrolet Motor Car Company to acquire a controlling stake in General Motors with a reverse merger occurring on May 2, 1918, and propelled himself back to the GM presidency. Body-on-frame, also known as ladder frame construction, is a common motor vehicle construction method, whereby a separate body or coach is mounted on a strong and relatively rigid vehicle frame or chassis that carries the powertrain (the engine and drivetrain) and to which the wheels and their suspension, brakes, and steering are mounted. While this was the original method of building automobiles, body-on-frame construction is now used mainly for heavy trucks, pickups, and predominantly large SUVs. In the late 19th century the frames, like those of the carriages they replaced, might be made of wood (commonly ash), reinforced by steel flitch plates – but in the early 20th century steel ladder frames or chassis rapidly became standard. Chevrolet Traverse
The Chevrolet Traverse is a full-size crossover SUV with three-row seating built by General Motors. It is built on the same platform as the GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave, known as the Lambda platform for first generation, and the C1XX for second generation. It also shares the C1XX platform with the Cadillac XT6. It is the successor to the TrailBlazer body-on-frame SUV and Uplander minivan. The second generation model debuted in showrooms in the summer of 2017. Starting with the 2019 model year, the Traverse was slotted above the new mid-size Chevrolet Blazer as part of Chevrolet's plans to expand its SUV lineup. The Chevrolet Trailblazer is a subcompact crossover SUV produced by General Motors under the Chevrolet brand since 2020. It is slotted between the slightly smaller Trax and the compact Equinox. Overview The Trailblazer was launched on April 16, 2019, at the 18th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition alongside the Tracker, that replaced the outgoing Trax. The Trailblazer is aimed for developed markets, while the Tracker is aimed for emerging markets. Developed by GM Korea, the Trailblazer is assembled in Incheon, South Korea while the Chinese market model is produced in Yantai, Shandong, China by SAIC-GM. The Chevrolet Tracker is a subcompact crossover SUV manufactured by General Motors since 2019. Positioned as a successor to the Trax (also called the Tracker in several markets), it is produced in Brazil and Argentina for the Latin American market, and in China by SAIC-GM for the Chinese market. Despite the use of the Tracker name, the Tracker is not related to the model sold in North America as a rebadged Suzuki Escudo from the 1990s to the 2000s.
