List Of Catholic Dioceses In The Philippines
This is a list of the Catholic dioceses in the Philippines (Mga Katolikong diyosesis ng Pilipinas). The dioceses' bishops comprise the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), an episcopal conference. The dioceses are grouped into ecclesiastical provinces, each of which comprises a Metropolitan archdiocese and several suffragan dioceses and is headed by the archbishop, as the metropolitan bishop of the province. Currently, there are 16 ecclesiastical provinces in the Philippines. Apostolic vicariates and the military ordinariate are not part of any ecclesiastical province, but are included in the table. Like diocesan bishops, they are the ordinary responsible for spiritual care the Catholics under them and are directly subject to the Holy See. A bishop is an ordained clergy member who is entrusted with a position of authority and oversight in a religious institution. In Christianity, bishops are normally responsible for the governance of dioceses. The role or office of bishop is called episcopacy. Organizationally, several Christian denominations utilize ecclesiastical structures that call for the position of bishops, while other denominations have dispensed with this office, seeing it as a symbol of power. Rolando Joven Tria Tirona
Rolando Octavus Joven Tria Tirona, O.C.D. (born July 22, 1946), is a prelate of the Roman Catholic Church in the Philippines. He is the Archbishop of Caceres in Naga, Philippines. He was appointed to succeed the retiring Archbishop Leonardo Legaspi of Caceres. Biography Rolando Tirona was born on July 22, 1946 in Kawit, he finished his elementary and secondary education at Centro Escolar University in 1952 and 1958. He completed a degree in political science at San Beda College before he entered San Carlos Seminary in Makati to finish philosophy in 1968. He entered Carmel on August 15, 1964 and solemnly professed vows on February 10, 1968. He was ordained priest on April 21, 1974 in Rome. Roman Catholic Diocese Of Legazpi
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Legazpi (Latin: ''Dioecesis Legazpiensis'') is a diocese of the Latin Rite of the Roman Catholic Church. It constitutes the entire province of Albay in the Philippines. The diocese was erected in 1951, carved from territory of the Archdiocese of Cáceres, to which it is a suffragan. In 1974, the diocese was partitioned to form the Diocese of Virac. Joel "Bong" Baylon is the current bishop of Legazpi, after serving as Bishop of Masbate. Daet Cathedral
The Daet Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity, is a prominent Latin Rite Roman Catholic cathedral located in Daet, Camarines Norte, Philippines. It was erected in 1984 after the Diocese of Daet was created by a papal bull on May 27, 1974. the rector is the Most Reverend Gilbert Armea Garcera. History The construction of the parish church took a long time of preparation. It started long before Camarines Norte became a diocese. During the incumbency of Msgr. Antonino O. Camarines Norte ( bcl, Amihanan na Camarines; fil, Hilagang Camarines), officially the Province of Camarines Norte, is a province in the Philippines located in the Bicol Region in Luzon. Its capital is Daet. The province borders Quezon to the west, Camarines Sur to the south, and the Philippine Sea to the north. It has historically been a Bikol speaking region. However, there has been a language shift in recent years to Tagalog, which is more commonly used nowadays. History In 1573, Bicol province was founded. The Most Reverend Rex Andrew Clement Alarcon, D.D., (born 6 August 1970 in Daet, Camarines Norte), is a Prelate of the Catholic church in the Philippines. The Peñafrancia Minor Basilica or the Minor Basilica of Our Lady of Peñafrancia (Spanish: ''Basílica Menor de Peñafrancia'') is a Roman Catholic minor basilica located on the outskirts of Naga City — also known as the Pilgrim City and Queen City of Bicol — in the Bicol Region of the Philippines.
