Edmonton Strathcona (formerly known as Edmonton—Strathcona) is a federal electoral district in Alberta, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 1953. It spans the south-central part of the city of Edmonton. In the periods 2008–2015 and 2019–2021, during the 40th, 41st, and 43rd Canadian Parliaments, Edmonton Strathcona was the only federal riding in Alberta not represented by the Conservative Party. Geography The riding is home to most of Edmonton's francophones. Ziad Aboultaif (Arabic: زياد أبو لطيف; born 10 September 1966) is a Canadian politician first elected to represent the riding of Edmonton Manning in the House of Commons in the 2015 federal election. Before politics On first coming to Canada, Aboultaif started working as a labourer. He learned the business from the ground up, moving from warehouse to office - eventually opening a business of his own. He was co-owner and co-managed Axxess Furniture Inc., an Edmonton-based furniture distribution business, for 12 years. Vancouver Granville is a federal electoral district in British Columbia, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 2015. The district includes all or significant portions of the Kerrisdale, Marpole, Oakridge, Shaughnessy, South Cambie, Fairview and Riley Park–Little Mountain neighbourhoods. Taleeb Farouk Noormohamed (born October 8, 1976) is a Canadian politician and technology executive who has been the member of Parliament (MP) for Vancouver Granville since 2021, sitting as a Liberal. Education and career Noormohamed completed a Bachelor of Arts degree from Princeton University. He later earned a master's degree from Harvard University and attended Oxford University for his doctoral studies. Noormohamed’s advisor at Princeton was Nobel Laureate Toni Morrison, about whom Noormohamed would write in the ''Journal of Blacks in Higher Education'' and in a letter to ''Time'' magazine. After completing his degree, Noormohamed worked for the federal government, first at the Privy Council Office, and then for Public Safety Canada, where he was the director of the review of the bombing of Air India Flight 182. Arif Virani
Arif Virani (born November 23, 1971) is a Canadian lawyer and politician who has sat as the member of Parliament (MP) for Parkdale—High Park since 2015. Virani represents the riding in the House of Commons as a member of the Liberal Party. He has held a number of parliamentary secretary portfolios, currently to the minister of justice and attorney general since 2018, and previously to the minister of immigration, refugees and citizenship from 2015 to 2017, and to the minister of Canadian heritage (multiculturalism) from 2017 to 2018. Djaouida Sellah () is a Canadian politician. Sellah represented the riding of Saint-Bruno—Saint-Hubert in the House of Commons from 2011 to 2015. Following her tenure in parliament, she served as president of the New Democratic Party of Quebec in 2018. Early life and career Sellah was born in Algiers, Algeria. Yasmin Ratansi (born January 4, 1951) is a Canadian politician who represented the Toronto area riding of Don Valley East in the House of Commons from 2004 to 2011 and again from 2015 to 2021. She was elected as a Liberal in the 2004 federal election and served until her defeat in 2011. She was re-elected in 2015 and 2019. Ratansi left the Liberal Party on November 9, 2020 following a ''CBC News'' investigation that revealed she had violated parliamentary rules by using public funds to employ her sister in her constituency office.
