Azerbaijan (, ; az, Azərbaycan ), officially the Republic of Azerbaijan, , also sometimes officially called the Azerbaijan Republic is a transcontinental country located at the boundary of Eastern Europe and Western Asia. Haji Gayib’s Bathhouse
Haji Gayib's bathhouse – is an ancient fortress construction near a coastal side of Icheri Sheher. Haji Gayib's bathhouse is located in Baku quarter of Icheri Sheher, opposite the Maiden Tower. History of the bathhouse is dated back to the 15th century. Intake portal of the bathhouse is rectangular shaped. Whole complex of the bathhouse is divided into 3 groups: dressing room, changing room and a bathing area. The dressing and changing rooms have octagonal halls, surrounded by small rooms. Vaults and domes have various figured outlines and were implemented thoroughly. Mammadbayli Mausoleum
Mammadbeyli Mausoleum ( az, Məmmədbəyli türbəsi) or the Mausoleum of Yahya ibn Muhammad al-Haj is a mausoleum of the 14th century located on uplands of the Mammadbeyli village of the Zangilan District of Azerbaijan. History The mausoleum was built in 1305, by architect Ali Majid ad-Din on the Silk Road. In 1975, excavation works in the underground part of the mausoleum were carried out, as result of which a sepulcher was found. Architecture The mausoleum has a rectangular shape with dimensions of 2,95 x 3,30 meters. Entry of the sepulcher is located in the western part. The width of the door is 76 cm, and the heights is 88 cm. According to rules of Islam the entry to the mausoleum shouldn't exceed 1.20 meters, so that the entering person would bow in respect to the memory of the deceased. Maiden Tower (Baku)
The Maiden Tower ( az, Qız qalası; fa, قلعه دختر) is a 12th-century monument in the Old City, Baku, Azerbaijan. Along with the Shirvanshahs' Palace, dated to the 15th century, it forms a group of historic monuments listed in 2001 under the UNESCO World Heritage List of Historical Monuments as cultural property, Category III. It is one of Azerbaijan's most distinctive national emblems, and is thus featured on Azerbaijani currency notes and official letterheads. The Maiden Tower houses a museum, which presents the story of the historic evolution of Baku city. It also has a gift shop. The view from the roof takes in the alleys and minarets of the Old City, the Baku Boulevard, the house of Isa bek Hajinski and a wide vista of the Baku Bay. Khojaly Memorial (Baku)
The Khojaly Massacre Memorial in Khatai raion, Baku, and the first public memorial in Azerbaijan dedicated to victims of the Khojaly Massacre. Khachin-Turbatli Mausoleum
Khachin-Darbatli Mausoleum ( az, Xaçındərbətli türbəsi) is a tomb-mausoleum of Katava Hoja the son of Musa (or Kutlu ibn Musa), located close to the Xaçındərbətli village of the Agdam District of Azerbaijan and was built by ustad Shahbenzer, in 1314. The mausoleum is located 23 km to the northern part of Agdam and is considered a notable monument of memorial architecture of medieval Azerbaijan. The mausoleum, as well as the Agdam district, where the mausoleum is located, was under the occupation of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic since the First Nagorno-Karabakh war until 2020, when the district was returned to Azerbaijan per the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh ceasefire agreement. Juma Mosque Of Nakhchivan
Juma Mosque of Nakhchivan or Friday Mosque of Nakhchivan ( az, Naxçıvan Cümə Məscdi) – is one of monumental constructions of the Atabegs’ Architectural Complex in Nakhchivan, Azerbaijan. The architectural monument demolished in the 20th century is documented in images and photos from the 19th century. Like the Marand and Urmia mosques, there were two lancet arches in walls of the Friday Mosque in Nakhchivan, although the southern wall of its cubic trunk was covered with a cupola. This shows that a new local type of mosque was created and developed in the centre of Azerbaijan in the 12th century. According to photo documents, all three sides of the masqura of the mosque were surrounded with columns. But there is no information about their appearance. Juma Mosque In Sheki
Sheki Juma mosque is a historical-architectural monument built in 1900-1914. It is located in the territory of the Yukhari Bash State Historical-Architectural Reserve in Sheki, Azerbaijan. The mosque was included in the list of immovable historical and cultural monuments of local importance by decision No. 132 issued by the Cabinet of Azerbaijan, Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan on August 2, 2001. On July 7, 2019, "the historic center of Sheki together with the Khan Palace" was included in the World Heritage Site, UNESCO World Heritage List. Juma Mosque In Ordubad
Juma Mosque of Ordubad - is located in Ordubad, Azerbaijan and is one of the cultic constructions of Ordubad city. The building is located on the highest place of the city. Architecture External architectural appearance of the mosque is dated to the 17th century according to its architectural segmentations. A ligature fixed on the entrance of the building shows that it was constructed in 1604, during the reign of the Safavid Iranian king Abbas I (r. 1588–1629). However, some elements in a plan of the mosque evidence that it was built earlier, but in the 17th century it was just reconstructed again. Three-paced praying hall takes the central place in the plan. Usage of deep arched niches attached to the frames of the arches is the peculiar feature of the architecture of cultic constructions.
