Association football, more commonly known as football or soccer, is a team sport played between two teams of 11 players who primarily use their feet to propel the ball around a rectangular field called a pitch. The objective of the game is to score more goals than the opposition by moving the ball beyond the goal line into a rectangular framed goal defended by the opposing side. Traditionally, the game has been played over two 45 minute halves, for a total match time of 90 minutes. With an estimated 250 million players active in over 200 countries, it is considered the world's most popular sport. Isidro Lángara
Isidro Lángara Galarraga (25 May 1912 in Pasaia, Gipuzkoa – 21 August 1992 in Andoain) was a Spanish football striker from the Basque Country. He played 12 times for Spain, scoring 17 goals. He has the highest goal ratio in La Liga at 1.14. Career Lángara began his football career playing for local teams, Bildur Guchi, Esperanza de San Sebastián, Siempre Adelante de Pasajes and Andoain in his native Basque country, eventually signing for then third division team Tolosa CF. When he turned 18, his goalscoring abilities were recognized by second division team Real Oviedo, a club with whom he would remain for 6 years, until the Spanish Civil War broke out in 1936. Carlos Alberto Etcheverry
Carlos Alberto "Tito" Etcheverry D'Angelo (June 29, 1933 in Buenos Aires – August 28, 2014) was an Argentine former soccer player and coach, who is most known in Mexico for being the first top-scorer of the Pumas de la UNAM. Biography Etcheverry was born in the Barrio de La Paternal, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. When was 17, he debuted as a professional, playing for Boca Juniors. After several seasons, he was transferred to Chacarita Juniors. In 1957, he was hired by the Mexican León, recommended by his brother-in-law and also a soccer player, Oscar Nova. In 1964, Etcheverry became the first top-goalscorer of the Pumas de la UNAM, with 20 goals. Besides León and UNAM, "Tito" Etcheverry also played in Mexico for Club Irapuato, Atlante F.C., and Jabatos de Nuevo León, where he served as player-manager. Salvador Reyes Monteón
Salvador Reyes Monteón (September 20, 1936 – December 29, 2012) was a Mexican professional footballer. He played for Guadalajara with 122 goals and 7 championships. Reyes won his first championship in 1957, from then on the club became unstoppable, winning six more titles. He was the last member from the club to win Campeon de Goleo (Goal scorer champion) until Omar Bravo won it on April 28, 2007 with 11 goals. It had been 45 years since a player from Guadalajara won the Campeon de Goleo. Goal scorers Salvador Reyes won cups and scored 14 goals for the football team from 1956 to 1966, and participated in three FIFA World Cups: 1958, 1962, 1966. Tampico is a city and port in the southeastern part of the state of Tamaulipas, Mexico. Club Atlético Zacatepec was a Mexican football team based in Zacatepec, Morelos. They are nicknamed ''Cañeros'' (sugarcane growers). Their colors are white and green (from sugar and sugarcane, respectively). Their uniform color is a white shirt with a big green line in the middle and white shorts and socks. Their greatest achievements were in the 1950s when Zacatepec won two titles in Primera División. Crescencio Gutiérrez Aldana (born 26 October 1933) is a Mexican former professional footballer who played as a forward. Career Gutiérrez, nicknamed "Mellone", due to his similarity both physically and in his style of play to Paraguayan striker Atilio Mellone, made his professional debut in 1950 at the age of 17 with Guadalajara. CD Oro
Club Deportivo Oro is a football club that plays in the second division. It is based in the city of Guadalajara. The club was one of five clubs from the state of Jalisco to play in the Mexican first division. It only won one league title, back in 1962, and was runner-up five times in 1947, 1953, 1955, 1960 and 1964. After four years of absence the club was reformed and plays now in the second division. Horacio Casarín Garcilazo (25 May 1918 – 10 April 2005) was a Mexican professional football player and coach who established himself as one of his country's most popular sports figures in the 1940s and 1950s. A symbol for Atlante, the team Casarín served for the majority of his career, the skilled forward also played for Necaxa, León, Asturias, Club América, Real España, Monterrey and Zacatepec in his country, as well as FC Barcelona in Spain and the Mexico national team.
