Grand Falls, New Brunswick
Grand Falls (french: Grand-Sault) is a town located in Victoria County, New Brunswick, Canada. Grand Falls is situated on the Saint John River. The town derives its name from a waterfall created by a series of rock ledges over which the river drops . On 1 January 2023, Grand Falls will expand, annexing the village of Drummond, the rural community of Saint-André, the local service district of the parish of Grand Falls, and part of the LSD of the parish of Drummond. History In 1686, Monsignor de Saint-Vallier (of Quebec) was the first known person to mention in writing the magnificent falls for which Grand Falls is named. Aroostook, New Brunswick
Aroostook ( ) (2016 population: 306) is a Canadian village in Victoria County, New Brunswick. Geography The village is located on the west bank of the Saint John River at the mouth of the Aroostook River. It is approximately 11 kilometres north of Perth-Andover. History Aroostook was founded in 1852 and became an important railway centre in 1878 with the completion of the New Brunswick Railway from Fredericton to Edmundston and the Aroostook River Railway from Aroostook to Caribou, Maine. Both railways were leased by the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) in 1890 and a large rail yard and locomotive roundhouse was constructed in the village to service CPR trains operating in northwestern New Brunswick and northern Maine. The construction of taxpayer-funded highways during the 20th century saw railways decline in use following World War II. New Denmark, New Brunswick
New Denmark is a rural community in Victoria County, New Brunswick, Canada. The community is situated in rolling hills east of the Saint John River valley several kilometres south of Drummond. Its main industry is potato farming and related industries. Once the site of several schools, they have all closed and students in New Denmark can choose to continue school in nearby Grand Falls or Tobique Valley. Southern Victoria is a village in the Canadian province of New Brunswick. It was formed through the 2023 New Brunswick local governance reforms.
