Programming Block
Block programming is the arrangement of programs on radio or television so that those of a particular genre, theme, or target audience are united. Overview Block programming involves scheduling a series of related shows which are likely to attract and hold a given audience for a long period of time. Notable examples of overt block programming were NBC's Thursday evening " Must See TV" lineup, which included two hours of sitcoms and one hour of '' ER'', and Channel 4's " T4" program which often ran sitcoms back-to-back for an hour or more. Reruns on cable television are often assembled into similar blocks to fill several hours of generally little-watched daytime periods. Animation is a method by which still figures are manipulated to appear as moving images. In traditional animation, images are drawn or painted by hand on transparent celluloid sheets to be photographed and exhibited on film. Today, most animations are made with computer-generated imagery (CGI). Computer animation can be very detailed 3D animation, while 2D computer animation (which may have the look of traditional animation) can be used for stylistic reasons, low bandwidth, or faster real-time renderings. Other common animation methods apply a stop motion technique to two- and three-dimensional objects like paper cutouts, puppets, or clay figures. A cartoon is an animated film, usually a short film, featuring an exaggerated visual style. Disney's One Saturday Morning
ABC Kids (originally titled Disney's One Saturday Morning until 2002) was an American Saturday-morning cartoon, Saturday morning block programming, children's programming block that aired on American Broadcasting Company, ABC from September 13, 1997 to August 27, 2011. It featured a mixture of animated television series, animated and live-action series from Disney Television Animation, Walt Disney Television Animation and Disney Channel, aimed at children between the ages of 6 and 12. This was the only time Disney Channel content aired on over-the-air television. UPN Kids
''UPN Kids'' was an American children's programming block that aired on UPN from September 10, 1995 to September 5, 1999. Airing on Sunday mornings, the block aired for one hour (10:00 to 11:00am), then two hours the following year (9:00 to 11:00 a.m., regardless of time zone). History UPN Kids launched on September 10, 1995 with a one-hour block of cartoons consisting of '' Space Strikers'' and '' Teknoman''. It was a joint partnership between UPN and Saban Entertainment. Unlike NBC, ABC, CBS, Fox and The WB (the latter of which debuted its own children's program block, Kids' WB, the day before UPN Kids made its debut), UPN ran its weekend morning children's programs on Sundays instead of Saturdays. Kids' WB!
Kids' WB (stylized as Kids' WB!) was an American children's programming service and brand of The WB that aired on the network from September 9, 1995, to September 16, 2006. The block moved to The CW (a result of the merger of Time Warner's The WB and CBS Corporation's UPN), where it aired from September 23, 2006, to May 17, 2008. After the block was discontinued, its Saturday morning programming slot was sold to 4Kids Entertainment and replaced by its successor block, The CW4Kids (later renamed Toonzai). An online network version of Kids' WB launched on April 28, 2008, but closed on May 17, 2015. The service allowed viewers to stream content, such as ''Looney Tunes'', Hanna-Barbera, and DC Comics. The Disney Afternoon
The Disney Afternoon (later known internally as the Disney-Kellogg Alliance when unbranded), sometimes abbreviated as TDA, was a created-for-syndication two-hour programming block of animated television series. It was produced by Walt Disney Television Animation and distributed through its syndication affiliate Buena Vista Television. Each show from the block has aired reruns on Disney Channel and Toon Disney. Fox Kids
Fox Kids (originally known as Fox Children's Network and later as the Fox Kids Network; stylized as FOX KIDS) was an American children's programming block and branding for a slate of international children's television channels. Originally a joint venture between the Fox Broadcasting Company (Fox) and its affiliated stations, it was later owned by Fox Family Worldwide. The Fox Kids brand originated on a programming block that launched on the Fox network from September 8, 1990, to September 7, 2002. The block aired on Saturday mornings throughout its existence (Sunday mornings in Canada), with an additional lineup on Monday through Friday afternoons airing until January 2002. Boing (Spanish TV Channel)
Boing is a Spanish free-to-air television channel launched in 2010 and owned as a joint venture between Mediaset España and Warner Bros. Discovery through its International unit. is a Japanese programming block on Fuji TV dedicated to anime and broadcast every Wednesday late night/Thursday morning from 00:55 to 1:25. History The block was announced on March 8, 2018, and premiered on October 18, 2018, with its first anime '' Ingress: The Animation''. According to +Ultra and Noitamina producer Mori Akitoshi from Fuji TV, the programming block is kind of a brother to the Noitamina block due to being a unique vision of an anime block much like it. In the announcement, it was said that the block was made due to the diversification of viewing media with anime being shared around the world via streaming services, which is why the block is based on the concept of spreading anime culture overseas with high-quality animation for the world. Noitamina
is a Japanese programming block on Fuji TV devoted to anime, originally broadcast every Thursday late night/Friday morning from 00:45 to 1:15. It was launched with the intention of expanding the target audience beyond the typical young male demographic. The block debuted in April 2005 as a half-hour block. All anime production under the block are joint-venue by Fuji TV, Dentsu and usually Sony Music Entertainment Japan or Aniplex. The timeslot was expanded from half an hour to a full hour in 2010, and airs Thursday nights/Friday morning 00:45 to 1:45 but returned to half an hour timeslot in 2015 due to 5 noitaminA-produced films to be shown in Japanese theaters in the same year. is a Japanese late night anime programming block airing on MBS. The timeslot was established in October 2006 with a Thursday night/Friday morning schedule, until April 2015, when it switched to a Friday night/Saturday morning schedule.
