Lisa Powell
Lisa Josephine Carruthers (née Powell) (born 8 July 1970 in Sydney, New South Wales) is a former field hockey forward, who was a member of the Australian Women's Hockey Team, best known as the ''Hockeyroos'', that won the gold medal at the 1996 and 2000 Summer Olympics. She is currently a senior hockey coach at Melbourne High School. Field Hockey
Field hockey is a team sport structured in standard hockey format, in which each team plays with ten outfield players and a goalkeeper. Teams must drive a round hockey ball by hitting it with a hockey stick towards the rival team's shooting circle and then into the goal. The match is won by the team that scores the most goals. Matches are played on grass, watered turf, artificial turf, synthetic field, or indoor boarded surface. The stick is made of wood, carbon fibre, fibreglass, or a combination of carbon fibre and fibreglass in different quantities. The stick has two sides; one rounded and one flat; only the flat face of the stick is allowed to progress the ball. During play, goalkeepers are the only players allowed to touch the ball with any part of their body. A player's hand is considered part of the stick if holding the stick. 1999 Women's Hockey Champions Trophy
The 1999 Women's Hockey Champions Trophy was the 7th edition of the Hockey Champions Trophy for women. It was held between 10 and 19 June 1999 in Brisbane, Australia. It was held simultaneously with the men's tournament. This was the last biannual edition of the tournament until 2014 when it returned to its original format due to the introduction of the World League. The Australian Sports Medal is an award given to recognise achievements in Australian sport to commemorate Australian participation in major sporting events. Original recipients of the award included competitors, coaches, sports scientists, office holders, and people who maintained sporting facilities and services.
