Lisa Kitagawa is an American politician and former academic administrator serving as a member of the Hawaii House of Representatives from the 48th district. She assumed office on November 6, 2018. Early life and education A fourth generation Japanese American, Kitagawa was born and raised in Kaneohe, Hawaii. After graduating from James B. Castle High School, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in family resources and Master of Education from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. Jarrett Keohokalole (born August 7, 1983) is an American politician serving as a Democratic member of the Hawaii Senate, representing the 24th district which includes Kāne‘ohe and Kailua. Kaneohe, Hawaii
Kāneohe () is a census-designated place (CDP) included in the City and County of Honolulu and located in Hawaii state District of Koolaupoko on the island of Oahu. In the Hawaiian language, ''kāne ohe'' means "bamboo man". According to an ancient Hawaiian story a local woman compared her husband's cruelty to the sharp edge of cutting bamboo; thus the place was named Kāneohe or "bamboo man". The population was 37,430 at the 2020 census. Kāneohe is the largest of several communities along Kāneohe Bay and one of the two largest residential communities on the windward side of Oahu (the other is Kailua). The commercial center of the town is spread mostly along Kamehameha Highway. From ancient times, Kāneohe was important as an agricultural area, owing to an abundance of rainfall. The Hawaii House of Representatives is the lower house of the Hawaii State Legislature. Pursuant to Article III, Section 3 of the Constitution of Hawaii, amended during the 1978 constitutional convention, the House of Representatives consists of 51 members representing an equal number of districts across the islands. It is led by the Speaker of the House elected from the membership of the House, with majority and minority leaders elected from their party's respective caucuses. The current Speaker of the House is Scott Saiki. Legislators are elected to two-year terms and are not subject to term limits. Aaron Ling Johanson (born January 30, 1980) is an American politician who has served as a member of the Hawaii House of Representatives since 2010, representing Aiea, Moanalua, Foster Village and Fort Shafter in Honolulu County on the island of Oahu. He was originally elected as a Republican in 2010. He was re-elected as such in 2012 and 2014, serving as House Minority Whip from 2011 to 2013 and as House Minority Leader from 2013 to December 29, 2014, when he changed his party affiliation and joined the Democratic Party. He was re-elected as a Democrat in 2016, defeating his Republican opponent with 70% of the vote.
