Lionel Manga
Lionel Manga, born in Dschang, is a Cameroonian writer and cultural critic based in Douala. His 2008 book, ''L'Ivresse du Papillon'', discusses Cameroonian visual artists such as Goddy Leye, Guy Wouété and Joseph-Francis Sumégné among others. Life and career After studies in Cameroon and France, in December 2007 he collaborated with the French artist Philippe Mouillon and realized the work ''Bend Skins'', a collection of life stories of 500 motorbike-taxi-drivers on the occasion of SUD Salon Urbain de Douala in December 2007. Dschang
Dschang is a city located in the West (Ouest) Province of Cameroon, with an estimated population of 87,000 (est) in 2001, growing dramatically from 21,705 recorded in 1981. Goddy Leye
Goddy Leye (24 November 1965 in Mbouda, Cameroon – 19 February 2011 in Bonendale, Cameroon) was a Cameroonian artist and intellectual. His work is focused on videos, installations, conceptual art and theoretical contributions. He is the founder of the art centre ArtBakery in Bonendale, Cameroon and he was the curator and promoter of site-specific art and international projects. Joseph-Francis Sumégné
Joseph-Francis Sumégné was born on 30 July 1951 in Bamenjou, Cameroon. Painter and sculptor since 1976, he is a self-taught artist. He lives and works in Yaoundé (Cameroon). Biography Influenced by the engravings and the tattoos that he observed on his grandmother's body and pillars of the royal houses to the west of Cameroon, he drew a lot during his childhood in the village. He then got introduced to different types of artistic practices (sculpture, colorization, jewelry, basketry and weaving), the combination of which will characterize his future work. His works are marked by the influences of traditional sculpture in his home region.
