Kontich
Kontich (, old spelling: ''Contich'') is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The municipality comprises the towns of Kontich proper and Waarloos. In 2021, Kontich had a total population of 21,260. The total area is 23.67 km³. Kontich exists of three parts: Kontich Centrum, Waarloos and Kontich Kazerne. Kontich Kazerne has a big industrial center and a train station on the line between Antwerp and Mechelen. The barracks (kazerne in Dutch) which gave the name to the settlement have closed however. The Centrum part of Kontich has the town center. The E19 highway between Antwerp and Brussels passes through Kontich. "Kontich" comes from the Latin word ''condacum'' which means confluence of 2 streams. Duffel
Duffel () is a municipality in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The municipality comprises only the town of Duffel proper. On 1 January 2020, Duffel had a total population of 17,664. The total area is 22.71 km² which gives a population density of 778 inhabitants per km². The area is namegiver to a certain type of coarse woolen cloth manufactured in this area from the 11th century, mainly used to make blankets, outdoor (army) coats and tot bags. Duffel again became a household name during and after World War II, in the meaning of a certain coat, designed with toggle-and-tow fastening and large hood. The etymology of Duffel is from "dubro" and "locus", from the Gaulish ''dubrum'', ''dubron'' – "water". In 1836, the Duffel railway station opened on the Brussels-North to Antwerp railway line. Lier, Belgium
Lier (; french: Lierre, ) is a municipality located in the Belgium, Belgian province of Antwerp (province), Antwerp. It is composed of the city of Lier proper and the village of Koningshooikt. The city centre is surrounded by the river ''Nete'', around which it grew. In 2018, Lier had a total population of 35,712. The total area is 49.70 km making a population density (PD) of 720 per km. Lier is known for its beers (which include Caves (beer), Caves), its patron saint Gummarus, St. Gummarus and ''Lierse vlaaikes'' cake. It is also home to the world headquarters of Van Hool, a global bus and coach manufacturer. Lier's two principal football clubs are K Lyra-Lierse Berlaar, K. Boechout () is a Municipalities of Belgium, municipality of Belgium located in the Flemish Region, Flemish province of Antwerp (province), Antwerp. The municipality comprises the towns of Boechout proper and . In 2021, Boechout had a total population of 13,526. The total area is 20.66 km². Boechout also hosts the Sfinks Festival. History Boechout is first mentioned in 974 as Villa Buocholt and a possession of the Saint Bavo's Abbey in Ghent. It used to be part of the Duchy of Brabant. In 1357, Antwerp, Boechout, Hove, Belgium, Hove and several other villages were acquired by the Count of Flanders, but was returned to Brabant in 1406. Matz Willy Els Sels (born 26 February 1992) is a Belgian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Ligue 1 club Strasbourg and the Belgium national team. Club career Lierse SK Sels started his youth career at Kontich, but transferred to Lierse at the age of seven. Over there, he started in 2010 in the first team. After the departure of Eiji Kawashima to Standard Liège in the summer of 2012, Sels became the first choice keeper. In his first game in the First Division, on 29 July 2012 against Gent, he saved a penalty. At the start of the 2013–2014 season, when he refused to sign a new contract, he was demoted to the second team. KAA Gent On 31 December 2013, it was announced that Sels would complete a transfer to KAA Gent once the transfer window opened.
