Lino Landolfi
Lino Landolfi (6 April 1925 – 11 February 1988) was an Italian cartoonist. Born in Rome, Landolfi attended various art schools including the Accademia where he studied painting, sculpture, decorating and scenery. He debuted as a cartoonist in 1947 with the character of "Joe", published by ''Corriere dei Piccoli''. In 1951 he created his most popular character, Procopio, realized for the magazine ''Il Vittorioso'' until 1968. In 1968, he changed his usual graphic style for a critically appreciated grotesque-realistic version of ''Don Quixote'' published by ''Vitt''. Corriere Dei Piccoli
The ''Corriere dei Piccoli'' (Italian for "Courier of the Little Ones"), later nicknamed ''Corrierino'' ("Little Courier"), was a weekly magazine for children published in Italy from 1908 to 1995. It was the first Italian periodical to make a regular feature of publishing comic strips. Publication history ''Corriere dei Piccoli'' was established in 1908. The first issue (24 pages, 80,000 copies) was published on 27 December 1908, with Silvio Spaventa Filippi as editor-in-chief. It was founded by Luigi Albertini. The magazine was formally a supplement for children of ''Corriere della Sera'', but it was also sold separately for 0.10 lira Its upmarket rival ''Il giornalino della Domenica'', founded in 1906, sold for two and a half times the price. History and profile The magazine was born on the initiative of the Azione Cattolica association as a catholic response to the secular comics, with the aim of offering to their young audience comics that had positive moral values and which were respectful of Catholic doctrine. Enrico Basari’s comic format of ''Beowulf'' was published in the magazine in 1941. It was the first comic format of the work. ''Il Vittorioso'' had a good commercial success, with an average circulation of about 200,000 copies per week, even thanks to its distribution channel which included parishes and catholic educational entities. ''Gulliver's Travels'', or ''Travels into Several Remote Nations of the World. In Four Parts. By Lemuel Gulliver, First a Surgeon, and then a Captain of Several Ships'' is a 1726 prose satire by the Anglo-Irish writer and clergyman Jonathan Swift, satirising both human nature and the "travellers' tales" literary subgenre. Father Brown is a fictional Roman Catholic priest and amateur detective who is featured in 53 short stories published between 1910 and 1936 written by English author G. K. Chesterton. Claudio Nizzi (born 9 September 1938 in Sétif, Algeria) is an Italian comic author. He started his career as comic scriptwriter in 1963, writing for the comics magazine '' Il Vittorioso''. The piccolo ( ; Italian for 'small') is a half-size flute and a member of the woodwind family of musical instruments. Sometimes referred to as a "baby flute" the modern piccolo has similar fingerings as the standard transverse flute, but the sound it produces is an octave higher. This has given rise to the name ottavino (), by which the instrument is called in Italian and thus also in scores of Italian composers. Piccolos are often orchestrated to double the violins or the flutes, adding sparkle and brilliance to the overall sound because of the aforementioned one-octave transposition upwards.
