Linhares Futebol Clube, usually known simply as Linhares, is a Brazilian football club from Linhares, Espírito Santo. History The club was founded on August 16, 2001, after the Escolinha de Futebol Companhia de Craques, which was a football youth academy founded by Adauto Menegussi, became a professional football club. Linhares participated in its first professional competition in 2004, in the Campeonato Capixaba Second Division. The team was formed by young players, but they failed to reach promotion to the First Division. The club played in 2005 for the second time in the second division and qualified to play the semifinal against GEL. In the first leg Linhares won 1–0 and in the second game Linhares and GEL drew 0–0 and thus the team was promoted to the first division in the state league. Linhares
Linhares is the name of a municipality in the state of Espírito Santo, Brazil, north of the state capital, Vitória. It is the largest municipality by area in the state, at 9,501.6 km², and has a population of 176,688 people (2020). The municipality is named in honor of D. Rodrigo de Souza Coutinho, Count of Linhares, who was a minister in the Brazilian government in the first two decades of the 19th century. The city took international knowledge, being the residence of Miss Gay Brazil 2013 and 2014. History The area today known as Linhares was once inhabited by the Botocudo. The town, founded by Europeans on August 22, 1800 was destroyed by the Indians during a war in 1809. The area was visited by Brazilian Emperor Dom Pedro II in 1860. Campeonato Brasileiro Série C
The Campeonato Brasileiro Série C is the third tier of the Brazilian football league system. Unlike the first and second divisions, the Série C is not played in a double round robin system, arguably because many participating teams lack the financial conditions to travel long distances. Thus, the tournament is organized in regional groups and the table prevents teams from distant states from playing each other in the initial rounds. Until 2008, any professional team could apply, but only 64 teams would take part in the tournament. The teams that had been relegated from the Série B in the previous year were joined by teams qualified for each federation state. Qualification rules varied, some federations used the state tournaments as qualification tournaments, others organized exclusive qualification tournaments to the Série C. The Copa do Brasil ( en, Brazil Cup) is a knockout football competition played by 92 teams, representing all 26 Brazilian states plus the Federal District. It is the Brazilian domestic cup and the Brazilian equivalent of the FA Cup, Taça de Portugal, Copa del Rey, Scottish Cup and Copa Argentina. The Copa do Brasil is an opportunity for teams from smaller states to play against the big teams. 2008 Copa Do Brasil
The Copa do Brasil 2008 was the 20th staging of the Copa do Brasil, starting on February 13, 2008 and finishing on June 11, 2008. It was played by 64 teams, either qualified through their respected state championships (54) or by the CBF Rankings (10). The clubs that played the Copa Libertadores 2008 didn't participate in the Copa do Brasil 2008 because of scheduling problems. It was won by Sport-PE. Esporte Clube Juventude, also known as Juventude, is a Brazilian football team in Caxias do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul. The club currently competes in the top tier of Brazilian football, the Série A, as well as in Campeonato Gaúcho Série A, the first level of the Rio Grande do Sul state football league.
