Lincoln Restaurant
Lincoln Restaurant, or simply Lincoln, was a restaurant in Portland, Oregon. The menu included Pacific Northwest cuisine, seasonal small plates, and Italian pastas. History Jenn Louis and co-owner/spouse David Welch opened Lincoln in 2008. In 2013, the restaurant began hosting gnocchi tastings ahead of Louis' gnocchi cookbook. Cory Chunn served as sous chef at the time. The restaurant closed in March 2017. Reception ''Portland Monthly'' says, "Lincoln soothes more than it struts, as evidenced by its straightforward, minimalist menu and sturdy fir tables. Louis eschews big flavors and gimmickry for freshness and balance. Her dishes are ingredient-driven and satisfying, perhaps a signature appetizer of two eggs baked with cream and chopped green olives, or a ribeye steak with braised leeks and a poached duck egg. Pacific Northwest cuisine is a North American cuisine of the states of Oregon, Washington and Alaska, as well as the province of British Columbia and the southern portion of the territory of Yukon, reflecting the ethnic makeup of the region, with noticeable influence from Asian and Native American traditions. With significant migration from other regions of the US, influences from Southern cuisine brought by African Americans as well as Mexican-American cuisine as Latinos migrate north from California, can be seen as well. Seattle's Pike Place Market is notable regarding this culinary style, along with Portland and Vancouver. Northeast Portland is one of the six major divisions of Portland, Oregon. Northeast Portland contains a diverse collection of neighborhoods. For example, while Irvington and the Alameda Ridge feature some of the oldest and most expensive homes in Portland, nearby King is a more working-class neighborhood. Boise is a neighborhood in the North and Northeast sections of Portland, Oregon. It is approximately bounded by Interstate 5 on the west, N Skidmore St. on the north, NE Rodney Ave. on the east, and N Kerby St. and NE Fremont St. on the south. The southern portion of N Mississippi Ave. forms the commercial core of the area. The neighborhood was named in honor of Reuben P. Boise, a Portland School Board member during the 1850s.
