Lin Hsien-tang Residence Museum
The Lin Hsien-tang Residence Museum () is a museum in Wufeng District, Taichung, Taiwan. History The museum building used to be the residence of Lin Hsien-tang. The inner and outer wings of the construction of the first courtyard of the residence were completed in 1867. In 1883, the second courtyard was completed. The rear tower was completed in 1899. Lin Fang-ying, a descendant of Lin Hsien-tang's, opened the residence as a museum in May 2019. Architecture The museum is located inside Mingtai High School compound. Wufeng District
Wufeng District () is a suburban district in southern Taichung, Taiwan. It is the location of Taiwan Provincial Consultative Council. Wufeng is a mainly agricultural town. It was heavily damaged by the Jiji earthquake on 21 September 1999, which caused around 100 deaths in the town. The 921 Earthquake Museum of Taiwan, which commemorates the giant quake, is built at what was formerly Guangfu Junior High School, which was destroyed when part of the school was uplifted by the Chelungpu Fault during the quake. The two major geographical features of this town are the Wu Xi (Wu Stream), which forms the town's southern border, and Xiangbi Shan (Elephant Trunk Mountain), which lies in the eastern part of the township. Taichung (, Wade–Giles: ''Tʻai²-chung¹'', pinyin: ''Táizhōng''), officially Taichung City, is a special municipality located in central Taiwan. Lin Hsien-tang
Lin Hsien-tang (; 22 October 1881 – 8 September 1956) was a Taiwanese-born politician and activist who founded several political organizations and sat on the Japanese House of Peers (Japan), House of Peers. Early life and family Lin Hsien-tang's earliest Taiwan-based ancestor was Lin Shi, who traveled the Taiwan Strait in 1746. Lin Hsien-tang was born in 1881 to and his wife. Lin Hsien-tang's mother died when he was young, and he was raised by his grandmother. Lin was tutored at home and became a wealthy landlord based in Taichung. He was born to the , whose ancestral home is the Wufeng Lin Family Mansion and Garden, located in Wufeng District. Lin was a member of the , established in 1902, and offered his house as the headquarters for the group.
