Liminha (musician)
Arnolpho Lima Filho (born 5 May 1951 in São Paulo), known as Liminha, is a Brazilian musician and producer. He started his career as the bassist of "Os Baobás", and was called in 1970 to tour with Os Mutantes, becoming an official member later. In 1974, he left the group to start his producing career. Ed Motta
Eduardo "Ed" Motta (; born August 17, 1971) is a Brazilian MPB, rock, soul, funk and jazz musician. He is the nephew of late singer-songwriter Tim Maia. Career Son of Luzia Motta, sister of Tim Maia and Antonio Motta, from an early age listened to disco, soul and funk, later leaning to rock, of which he became profoundly knowledgeable at the time. His musical career started as vocalist of the hard rock band Kabbalah, After hearing Jeff Beck's album " Blow by Blow", he realized that the British guitarist had soul and funk influences. Still in his teens, he abandoned his studies to dedicate to music, now fascinated by black music. ''Jardim Elétrico'' () is the fourth album by the Brazilian Tropicália/ psychedelic rock band Os Mutantes. The album was originally released in 1971 (see 1971 in music) on Polydor Records. The title in English means ''Electric Garden''. Five of the songs from this album were originally intended to be released on the album ''Tecnicolor'', but that album was not released until 2000. The album also saw Arnaldo Baptista take over as the band's producer, a position he would maintain until he left the band in 1973. ''A Divina Comédia ou Ando Meio Desligado'' () is the third album by the Brazilian rock band Os Mutantes. The album was originally released in 1970 (see 1970 in music) and reissued in 1999 on Omplatten Records and again in 2006 by Omplatten's (and Polydor's) parent company, Universal Records. The title in English means: ''The Divine Comedy or I Am a Bit Disconnected''. "I am a bit disconnected" in this sense means "I feel a little spaced out." The second track features the band imitating California accents. The album as a whole is characterized by a mix of psychedelic and religious imagery. It's also the first album by the band to break away from the Tropicália aesthetic, and move towards more of a pure rock sound. Skank (band)
Skank is a Brazilian band from Belo Horizonte. Having begun in 1991, they sold approximately 5,200,000 copies of their albums as of 2004. Initially intending to mix dancehall with traditional Brazilian styles, later the band changed its sonority to music closer to Britpop and local movement Clube da Esquina. Biography In 1983, Samuel Rosa (guitars, vocals) and Henrique Portugal (keyboards) started to play in a reggae band called "Pouso Alto", along with Dinho Mourão (drums) and his brother Alexandre (bass). In 1991, Pouso Alto arranged for a performance in São Paulo, but due to the Mourão brothers not being in Belo Horizonte, bassist Lelo Zaneti and drummer Haroldo Ferretti were called for the gig. The band premiered on June 5, 1991, and due to the performance competing with the Campeonato Paulista final match, the audience was 37 people. Forfun
Forfun was a Brazilian alternative rock band which reached the peak of its popularity in the mid- to late 2000s. Formed in Rio de Janeiro in 2001, their initial line-up comprised vocalist/guitarist Danilo Cutrim, bassist Vítor Isensee and drummer Bruno Tizé. By 2002, Tizé left the band and was replaced by Nicholas Christ, while Isensee switched his position with Rodrigo Costa to become second guitarist. Lulu Santos, stage name of Luiz Maurício Pragana dos Santos (born May 4, 1953), is a Brazilian singer and guitarist. Career Lulu was born in Rio de Janeiro. Fernanda Abreu
Fernanda Abreu (born September 8, 1961) is a Brazilian singer. Biography Fernanda was born and raised in a middle-class family of the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro. Her first notable public appearance was the backing vocal of the band Blitz until 1986. After that, in 1990, she started a solo career, achieving great success in her native country.
