Limelight (also known as Drummond light or calcium light)James R. Smith (2004). An intense illumination is created when a flame fed by oxygen and hydrogen is directed at a cylinder of quicklime (calcium oxide), which can be heated to before melting. The light is produced by a combination of incandescence and candoluminescence. Although it has long since been replaced by electric lighting, the term has nonetheless survived, as someone in the public eye is still said to be "in the limelight". The actual lamps are called "limes", a term which has been transferred to electrical equivalents. Swedish singer Agnes has released five studio albums, one compilation album, one extended play, 19 singles and 15 music videos. Agnes' debut studio album, '' Agnes'', was released in Sweden in December 2005 by Columbia Records, topping the Swedish Albums Chart and earning a platinum certification. The first single, " Right Here Right Now", also topped the charts in Sweden. The second and final single from the album, " Stranded", did not fare as well, peaking at number 27. The following year, she released her second studio album, '' Stronger'', which also topped the Swedish chart. The Limeliters
The Limeliters are an American folk music group, formed in July 1959 by Lou Gottlieb (bass violin/bass), Alex Hassilev (banjo/baritone), and Glenn Yarbrough (guitar/tenor). The group was active from 1959 until 1965, and then after a hiatus of sixteen years, Yarbrough, Hassilev, and Gottlieb reunited and began performing again as The Limeliters in reunion tours. On a regular basis a continuation of The Limeliters group is still active and performing. Gottlieb died in 1996 (age 72), Yarbrough died in 2016 (age 86), and Hassilev (born 1932), the last founding member, who had remained active in the group, retired in 2006, leaving the group to carry on without any of the original members. Origins Gottlieb performed with the Gateway Singers in the mid-1950s but moved to California to complete his PhD in musicology. The Limelight
The Limelight was the name of a chain of nightclubs owned and operated by Peter Gatien. It had locations in New York City, Chicago, Atlanta, London and Hallandale. Context During the 1980s, club culture had died down because of the AIDS epidemic and there were more regulations put into place in order to stop the spread. The music scene began to shift and the rockstar lifestyle had started to die down; bands like The Ramones and Blondie slowly sunk into plastic commercialization. The artistic era also declined with the death of Andy Warhol. However, in the 90s, after more information was known about HIV/AIDS, people started to return to a club state of mind. Limelight in Belfast, Northern Ireland is mid-sized live music and night club venue complex, which initially opened in 1987. The complex on the city's Ormeau Avenue consists of Limelight 1 & Limelight 2, as well as a bar called Katy's Bar. The outdoor terrace is called The Rock Garden. Limelight has strong associations with new bands, homegrown talent, and indie/rock/metal club nights. Drums And Wires
''Drums and Wires'' is the third studio album by the English rock band XTC, released in 1979 on Virgin Records. It is a more pop-orientated affair than the band's previous, ''Go 2'' (1978), and was named for its emphasis on guitars ("wires") and expansive-sounding drums. The album was their first issued in the United States and their first recorded with guitarist Dave Gregory, who had replaced keyboardist Barry Andrews earlier in 1979.
