Light Of The Jedi (novel)
''Star Wars: The High Republic: Light of the Jedi'' is the first novel of the '' Star Wars: The High Republic'' multi-media project launched in 2021. The novel was written by Charles Soule, and is set approximately 200 years before the events of '' Star Wars: The Phantom Menace''. It was followed by a sequel, ''The Rising Storm''. Setting The story introduces several powerful Jedi during a time of galactic peace, termed "The High Republic," as they prepare to launch the Starlight Beacon, a massive space station which will aid communication between distant worlds. Interference by the villainous pirate group known as the Nihil creates a catastrophic hyperspace event called "The Great Disaster," which places the Jedi and the planets they protect in danger. Charles Soule is a New York-based comic book writer, novelist, musician, and attorney. He is best known for writing '' Daredevil'', ''She-Hulk'', ''Death of Wolverine'', and various ''Star Wars'' books and comic series from Del Rey Books and Marvel Comics, and his creator-owned series ''Letter 44, Curse Words,'' and ''Undiscovered Country'', which he co-wrote with Scott Snyder, and as the co-creator of the Marvel Comics and ''Star Wars'' characters Ren, Blindspot, Inferno, and Lash. ''Star Wars: The High Republic'' is a multimedia project consisting of various stories from the ''Star Wars'' franchise set during the " High Republic" era, which spans 350 to 50 years before the Skywalker Saga and is set hundreds of years after the fall of the "Old Republic". The initiating event of the sub-franchise is "The Great Disaster" involving the antagonistic "space Vikings" known as the Nihil and the subsequent intervention of the Jedi.
