"Light and Day", also known as "Section 9 (Light & Day/Reach for the Sun)", is a song by The Polyphonic Spree from their 2002 album '' The Beginning Stages of...''. It was released in 2003 as the second single from the album. The song attracted greater attention after being featured in the 2004 film ''Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind'', and was included on that film’s soundtrack album. A few weeks after the March release of the film, The Polyphonic Spree appeared as themselves to perform it in the April 2004 episode " My Choosiest Choice of All" of the television series ''Scrubs''. The Polyphonic Spree is an American choral rock band from Dallas, Texas that was formed in 2000 by singer/songwriter Tim DeLaughter. The band's pop and rock songs are augmented by a large vocal choir, and instruments such as flute, trumpet, french horn, trombone, violin, viola, cello, percussion, piano, guitars, bass, drums, electronic keyboards, and EWI. History DeLaughter's previous group, Tripping Daisy, came to an abrupt end in 1999 when guitarist Wes Berggren died of a drug overdose. The Polyphonic Spree was formed, in part, in reaction to Berggren's death. In 2000, DeLaughter collaborated with 12 other musicians to put together a sound that reflected the music he grew up with. ''Murderball'' is a 2005 American documentary film about athletes who are physically disabled who play wheelchair rugby. It centres on the rivalry between the Canadian and U.S. teams leading up to the 2004 Paralympic Games. It was directed by Henry Alex Rubin and Dana Adam Shapiro, and produced by Jeffrey V.
