Lift Off (Australian TV Series)
''Lift Off'' was an Australian children's television series that was developed and produced by Patricia Edgar and broadcast on ABC Television from 1992 until the series ended in 1995. Each episode featured a live action storyline about a group of young children, and the problems they encountered with growing up, their parents, and various other social issues. Episodes would also feature segments of short animation, puppetry and documentary segments, as well as various songs, stories, and word games. Aimed at 3- to 8-year-olds, the series was linked with the school curricula through the Curriculum Corporation of Australia. The different episodes used stories and locations to explore subjects such as jealousy, loneliness and anger. The puppet characters were designed by illustrator Terry Denton and were constructed by the sculptor Ron Mueck. Garth Boomer
Garth Boomer (1940 – 1993) was an influential educationalist working in Australia. Since 1995 the Australian Association for the Teaching of English has held a Garth Boomer Memorial Address in his honour. He was particularly influential in the teaching of English, and he was president of the Australian Association for the Teaching of English for a time. Paul Atherstone Grabowsky (born 27 September 1958) is an Australian pianist and composer. Biography Born in Lae, Papua New Guinea, Grabowsky is a pianist and composer of music for film, theatre and opera. His father Alistair had lived in Papua New Guinea with his wife Charlotte since the 1930s working on oil rigs, building roads, flying planes. Grabowsky described his ancestry as "failed Polish aristocracy". His grandfather was a legitimate Polish Count of the Grabowksi noble family, a descendant of Jan Jerzy Grabowski from where he gets his title; his grandfather was exiled from Poland and lived in Scotland. Aku Kadogo, born Karen Vest, is a choreographer, director, actress, and educator. She was one of the original cast members of Ntozake Shange's ''For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide / When the Rainbow Is Enuf'' (1976), and acted in the 1990s Australian children's television series '' Lift Off''. Cezary Skubiszewski is a Polish-born Australian film and television composer. Michael Brady (born 28 February 1948) is an English-born Australian musician, most commonly associated with the Australian rules football anthems "Up There Cazaly", referring to 1910s St Kilda and 1920s South Melbourne player Roy Cazaly, and "One Day in September", which were released by The Two-Man Band. Leslie Gock (born 1954) is an Australian musician, producer and sound designer. He joined the glam rock band Hush in 1972. Gock played lead guitar, and was also a song writer and co-producer. The group received 12 gold records during his time in the band. After leaving Hush in 1976, Gock became a music and sound design director for film and television soundtracks, receiving industry recognition by Gold Clios, Facts Awards, and New York International Advertising Festival Awards.
