Lifesigns
Lifesigns are an English progressive rock band, first conceived by lead singer and keys player John Young in 2008. By 2014, the band's lineup included Steve Rispin as their sound engineer, Jon Poole on bass and vocals, Martin "Frosty" Beedle on drums, percussion and vocals, and formerly Niko Tsonev on guitars and vocals. After Tsonev departed the band in 2016, Dave Bainbridge joined on guitar and additional keys. Beedle left the band in 2020 and was replaced by Zoltán Csörsz. The band are noted for their keyboard-driven melodic prog rock sound and pop rock influences. Lifesigns released their self-titled debut studio album in 2013. Their third and latest studio album, ''Altitude'', was released in 2021. History Lifesigns was conceived in 2008 by John Young. John Young (musician)
John Young (born 31 May 1956) is a British rock musician hailing from Liverpool. He is currently the keyboardist and singer for the progressive rock band Lifesigns. Biography Young spent his early years at the Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral where he was classically trained on piano and vocals. His first bands were mainly semi-pro jazz rock bands, and he played in these into the mid 1980s. His first major break came in 1985 when he auditioned and became part of Uli Jon Roth's Band (ex-Scorpions). After a world tour, Young did studio and session work with artists including Steeleye Span and Bon Jovi. He formed a band with Jon Camp (Renaissance) which signed to Warner Bros, but failed to produce any material before the project was disbanded. Young went on to play with the MTV band in London and during this time he met John Wetton who asked him to join Asia for two European tours. Niko Tsonev
Niko Tsonev is a Bulgarian-born musician, producer, composer, mixing engineer, and arranger living in London, England. At age four, Tsonev played accordion; later he began playing guitar but only in his early teen years Tsonev began formally taking music theory and guitar lessons. Aged seventeen, he received a scholarship from Berklee College of Music (Boston, MA), however, Tsonev moved to London, England to study Music Production at Lewisham College. At that time (1996) Tsonev also joined a musician session agency as a freelance guitarist. Career In younger years, Tsonev drew his musical inspiration from artists such as Steve Vai, Jimmy Herring and Scott Henderson. Dave Bainbridge
Dave Bainbridge is an English guitarist and keyboard player who has played with The Strawbs since 2015. With Dave Fitzgerald, Dave co-founded the Christian progressive and Celtic folk themed band Iona. Biography Born in Darlington, England from a musical family. Dave had piano lessons from the age of eight and learnt guitar from thirteen. He joined his first band 'Exodus' at fourteen. Dave went to Leeds College of Music, gaining the "BBC Radio 2 Best Jazz Soloist Award" whilst there. Whilst at college Dave, met singer and songwriter Adrian Snell. The result was a working partnership spanning eight years and through which he would first meet Joanne Hogg and David Fitzgerald. He plays drums, percussion, programs keyboard parts using high quality plugins and sings all types of genres. He plays various styles of music covering many genres including jazz, jazz fusion, rock, pop, blues, R&B and Orchestral. He was the original drummer of Cutting Crew, remaining with them during their most successful period. He has also played in numerous West End musicals, as has been the principal drummer for '' Mamma Mia!'' since it opened in 1999. Nick Beggs
Nicholas Beggs (born 15 December 1961Larkin, Colin (1997) ''The Virgin Encyclopedia of Eighties Music'', Virgin Books, , p. 270-271) is an English musician, noted for playing the bass guitar and the Chapman Stick; he is a member of the Mute Gods and Kajagoogoo, formerly also a part of Iona and Ellis, Beggs & Howard and plays in the band of Steven Wilson. He is known for modifying a Chapman Stick into a fully MIDI-capable instrument triggering MIDI from both bass and melody strings; he calls it the Virtual Stick. Early life Beggs was born on 15 December 1961 in Winslow, Buckinghamshire. His parents were Herby and Joan Beggs, and he has a younger sister, Jacqueline. Jon Poole
Jonathan Charles Poole (born 16 October 1969), also known by his stage name Random Jon Poole, is an English multi-instrumentalist singer and songwriter. He is best known for his work as guitarist for Cardiacs and as bass player for the Wildhearts and Lifesigns. Poole is the frontman and main performer of God Damn Whores, and has also worked with the bands Ablemesh, Dr Brighton and Celebricide. He is currently the live bass player for the Lotus Eaters and has joined the Brighton band La Momo as drummer. He also fronts the Dowling Poole along with Willie Dowling, and has released three albums and a number of EPs with this project. Zoltán Csörsz
Zoltán Csörsz (born 4 July 1976) is a Hungarian drummer who is most well known as the ex-drummer with the progressive rock band The Flower Kings. Biography Zoltan Csörsz was born on 4 July 1976 in Hungary. He began playing drums at age five, and won an international talent contest in Hungary at age nine. Csörsz went on to win numerous other awards in Hungary, and eventually moved on to formal music training in Hungary and eventually the Jazz Institute in Malmö, Sweden, where he played in a variety of different bands. In May 2001 when The Flower Kings' drummer, Jaime Salazar, left the band, keyboardist Tomas Bodin suggested Csörsz because he was impressed by the drummer's skill, as he had played with him in previous projects as well as seeing him in various bands around Sweden. The Chapman Stick is an electric musical instrument devised by Emmett Chapman in the early 1970s. A member of the guitar family, the Chapman Stick usually has ten or twelve individually tuned strings and is used to play bass lines, melody lines, chords, or textures. Progressive Rock
