Life On The Fast Lane
"Life on the Fast Lane", also known as "Jacques to Be Wild" in the UK, is the ninth episode of the American animated television series ''The Simpsons''. It originally aired on the Fox network in the United States on March 18, 1990.. It was written by John Swartzwelder and directed by David Silverman. Albert Brooks (in his second of ten appearances) guest starred as Jacques, a French bowling instructor, with him being credited as "A. Brooks". The episode deals with how Homer's thoughtlessness precipitates Marge's infatuation with her bowling instructor Jacques, leading to a marriage crisis between her and Homer. In the original plan for the episode, Brooks (who improvised much of his dialogue) was to voice a Swedish tennis coach called Björn, with the episode to be titled "Björn to Be Wild". David Silverman (animator)
David Silverman (born March 15, 1957) is an American animator who has directed numerous episodes of the animated TV series ''The Simpsons'', as well as its film adaptation. Silverman was involved with the series from the very beginning, animating all of the original short ''Simpsons'' cartoons that aired on ''The Tracey Ullman Show.'' He went on to serve as director of animation for several years. He also did the animation for the 2016 film ''The Edge of Seventeen,'' which was produced by Gracie Films. Early life and career Silverman was born to a Jewish family on Long Island, New York. His father, Joseph Silverman, was a chemical engineering professor at the University of Maryland, College Park, for over 30 years. He grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland, and attended the University of Maryland for two years, focusing on art. He then attended UCLA and majored in animation. Barnard Arnold "Barney" Gumble is a recurring character in the American animated TV series ''The Simpsons''. He is voiced by Dan Castellaneta and first appeared in the series premiere episode "Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire". Barney is the town drunk of Springfield and one of Homer Simpson's friends. His loud belches and desperation for alcohol serve as frequent sources of humor on the show, though Barney sobered up in the Season 11 episode "Days of Wine and D'oh'ses". Julie Deborah Kavner (born September 7, 1950) is an American actress. Best known for her voice role as Marge Simpson on the animated television series ''The Simpsons'', Kavner first attracted notice for her role as Brenda Morgenstern, the younger sister of Valerie Harper's title character in the sitcom ''Rhoda'', for which she won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.
