Lieve Hugo
Julius Theodoor Hugo Uiterloo (December 13, 1934 – November 15, 1975), better known by his stage-name Lieve Hugo and his nickname Iko, was a Surinamese singer. He was one of the pioneers of the kaseko-genre; hence his other nickname ''King of Kaseko''. Biography Washboard Orchestra Lieve Hugo sang in a choir and played drums and percussion in a variety of bands with or without other retired boxers. In 1967 he joined Washboard Orchestra; in this band, who more or less invented kaseko, he was both a drummer and a singer. A mutated version headlined the 1970 Holland Festival at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw and got the crowd on their dancing feet. Paramaribo (; ; nicknamed Par'bo) is the capital and largest city of Suriname, located on the banks of the Suriname River in the Paramaribo District. De Dijk (English: The Dike (construction), Dike) is a Dutch Rock music, rock Musical ensemble, band which formed in 1981. The band is named after Zeedijk, a street in their hometown Amsterdam. Their music can be described as a mixture of Soul music, soul, blues and rock 'n roll, with lyrics sung only in Dutch language, Dutch, except for their 2010 album ''Hold On Tight''; the song 'Enough is Enough', both of which are sung in English by Solomon Burke; and ''Stupid Guy'' from the album ''Wakker in een vreemde wereld'', performed in English by the regular band. They are considered one of the most important Dutch acts of the past 40 years. TopNotch is a Dutch record label specializing in hip-hop. The label was founded in 1995, and is run by Vincent Patty. After some commercial success (with rap acts such as De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig, The Opposites, Def Rhymz, Postmen, and Extince) it became allied with Virgin EMI Records, and since 2004 has a marketing and distribution deal with PIAS Entertainment Group. It has expanded into Dutch-language music by singer-songwriters such as Lucky Fonz III, and in 2009 signed a distribution and marketing agreement with Universal Music Group. Angela Groothuizen
Angela Groothuizen (born 28 September 1959) is a Dutch singer, artist and television personality. Her initial fame came as a member of the Dolly Dots. Biography Angela Groothuizen was born in Alkmaar, and has four brothers and sisters. She joined the band Howling Hurricane, of which one of her brothers was a member, and in 1978 they recorded a single, "Dreamt up Rock". That same year she was asked to join a newly formed girl group, and while she was more rock-oriented, she joined, and in 1979 the Dolly Dots were officially launched. Musical career The pop girl group Dolly Dots achieved popularity inside and outside the Netherlands, scoring hits between 1979 and 1988. Izaline Francisca Juanita Calister (born March 9, 1969) is a Dutch-Curaçaoan singer and songwriter. Growing up in her native Curaçao for eighteen years, Calister moved to Groningen, the Netherlands, where she studied at the Prince Claus Conservatoire and continues to live. Calister's music combines the Calypso influences of her native Curaçao with jazz, creating a unique blend of music. The Ladies of Soul is a Dutch supergroup that was founded by Candy Dulfer, Berget Lewis, Glennis Grace and Edsilia Rombley. Trijntje Oosterhuis, a former founding member, left in 2017 to focus on hesolo-career History Origins The Ladies of Soul have shared childhoods; Oosterhuis and Lewis were neighbours, Rombley and Lewis became best friends and Oosterhuis and Dulfer were connected through relatives. Oscar Harris
Oscar Harris (born 30 November 1943) is a Surinamese singer. He was among the best known Surinamese musicians in the Netherlands during the 1970s and 1980s. Harris moved to Amsterdam to study architecture in 1963, and founded Oscar Harris and The Twinkle Stars, a ten-man vocal and instrumental group in 1965, which became known by playing at student gatherings in Amsterdam.
