Lichenomphalia Altoandina
''Lichenomphalia altoandina'' is a species of basidiolichen in the family Hygrophoraceae. Found in Chile, it was species description, described as a new species in 2017 by Pablo Sandoval-Leiva and Nicolas Niveiro. Taxonomy The type (biology), type specimen was collected close to Colpitas (General Lagos, Arica y Parinacota Region) at a height above mean sea level of . Here the lichen was found in a saline wetland amongst cushions of dead plants ''Zameioscirpus atacamensis'' and ''Oxychloë andina'', as well as ''Carex'' and ''Deyeuxia curvula''. The botanical name, specific epithet ''altoandina'' combines ''alto''- ("high") with ''andina'' ("Andes"), alluding to the habitat of the lichens. Description The lichen ''Lichenomphalia altoandina'' has an inconspicuous thallus. It makes clusters of orange fruitbodies with pileus (mycology), caps up to in diameter on top of a stipe (mycology), stipe that is long by broad. The lamella (mycology), gills on the cap underside are decurrent ...

Basidiolichen
Basidiolichens are lichenized members of the Basidiomycota, a much smaller group of lichens than the far more common ascolichens in the Ascomycota. In arctic, alpine, and temperate forests, the most common basidiolichens are in the agaric genus ''Lichenomphalia'' (including former members of ''Omphalina'' or '' Gerronema'') and the clavarioid genus ''Multiclavula''. Several lichenized genera occur in tropical regions, the most common being the foliose ''Dictyonema''. Previously basidiolichens had been classified in their own subclass, Basidiolichenes.
