Libyan SuperCup
The Libyan Super Cup is a Libyan football championship contested between the winners of the Libyan Premier League and the Alfatih Cup. The game is played at the beginning of the following season, and signals the beginning of the domestic year. The Super Cup was a two-legged final in 1997 but became one-legged from 1998 onwards. Al Ittihad are the most successful club with ten titles in total, including nine consecutive titles from 2002 onwards. Libya
Libya (; ar, ليبيا, Lībiyā), officially the State of Libya ( ar, دولة ليبيا, Dawlat Lībiyā), is a country in the Maghreb region in North Africa. The 2010 Libyan Super Cup was the 14th edition of the Libyan Super Cup, an annual football match contested by the winners of the previous year's Libyan Premier League and Libyan Cup competitions. Al Tarsana Sports, Social & Cultural Club ( ar, نادي الترسانة الرياضي الثقافي الاجتماعي) or simply Al Tarsana Sports Club is a Libyan sports club based in Souq al Jum'aa, Tripoli, Libya. History The inhabitants of Tripoli began sporting activities, with football at the top of their list of popular activities, which they played in their local arenas and stadia. The popularity of football among the public, among other sports, meant they founded a youth club to compete more seriously (on a national level) in sports like boxing, where they won many national championships. Attersana was founded in 1954, with efforts from the youth of Souq Aljum'aa, on the east side of Tripoli, who decided they needed a club to combine their sporting talents, and also meet socially. Khaleej Sirte
Khaleej Sirte is a Libyan football club based in Sirte, Libya. They play in the Libyan Premier League. They play their home matches at the 2 March Stadium in Sirte. The stadium holds around 2,000 people. History Sirte was founded on 5 May 1963. It continued under this name, and on 29 July 1999, the two other clubs in Sirte, Al-Najm Al-Sate and Al-Intilaaq, merged to form Khaleej Sirte Recent years Having gained promotion to the Premier League in 2005–06, they managed to stay up in their first season, achieving a respectable 7th-place finish. The 2008 Libyan Super Cup was a match that took place on Wednesday, 15 October 2008 between the Libyan Premier League winners Al Ittihad and Libyan Cup winners Khaleej Sirte. Olympic Azzaweya Sports Club ( ar, نادي أولمبي الزاوية الرياضي) is a Libyan football club based in Zawiya, Libya. They are the only club from outside Tripoli or Benghazi to win the Libyan Premier League title. They achieved this in the 2003–04 season. The club boasts former players such as Nader Kara, Marei Al Ramly and Younes Al Shibani. The club did compete in the CAF Champions League once in 2005, where they went out in the first round to USM Alger, 7–0 on aggregate, having beaten Renaissance FC of Chad 3–2 in the Preliminary Round.
