The 2009 Libyan Super Cup was the 13th edition of the competition. This year's edition was a repeat of the Libyan Cup final of the previous season, which saw Ittihad Tripoli beat Tersanah on penalties. The match took place on September 22, 2009. The Tripoli International Stadium ( ar, ملعب طرابلس) is a multi-purpose stadium in Tripoli, Libya. It can hold 65,000 spectators. It is the main venue used by the Libyan national football team in its FIFA World Cup and African Nations Cup qualifying matches as well as friendlies and other international games. The stadium hosted many games of the 1982 African Cup of Nations held in Libya along with the 28 March Stadium in Benghazi; it was the venue for the final between Ghana and Libya. It hosted the 2002 Italian Supercup between Juventus and Parma, which Juventus won, 2–1. Its old name (June 11 Stadium) is a reference to the date of the withdrawal of US forces from Libya, June 11, 1970. Ahmed Mohammed Rajab Kraouaa ( ar, احمد كراوع) (born 21 April 1989) is a Libyan professional footballer who plays as a forward for Libyan Premier League club Al Ahli Tripoli. Club career Ittihad Tripoli A promising young striker, Krawa'a was signed by Ittihad Tripoli in January 2008. Though he received few opportunities in the first team, he managed to get two goals, including an 87th-minute equaliser in a 1-1 draw against his former club, Shat. Al Tarsana Al Tarsana loaned Krawa'a during the summer transfer window. He has so far impressed at the capital club; his first two goals were against his employers in the 2009 Libyan Super Cup defeat. The 2008 Libyan Super Cup was a match that took place on Wednesday, 15 October 2008 between the Libyan Premier League winners Al Ittihad and Libyan Cup winners Khaleej Sirte. The Libyan Super Cup is a Libyan football championship contested between the winners of the Libyan Premier League and the Alfatih Cup. The game is played at the beginning of the following season, and signals the beginning of the domestic year. The Super Cup was a two-legged final in 1997 but became one-legged from 1998 onwards. Al Tarsana Sports, Social & Cultural Club ( ar, نادي الترسانة الرياضي الثقافي الاجتماعي) or simply Al Tarsana Sports Club is a Libyan sports club based in Souq al Jum'aa, Tripoli, Libya. History The inhabitants of Tripoli began sporting activities, with football at the top of their list of popular activities, which they played in their local arenas and stadia. The popularity of football among the public, among other sports, meant they founded a youth club to compete more seriously (on a national level) in sports like boxing, where they won many national championships.
