The Liberty County School District, or the Liberty County School System (LCSS), is a public school district in Liberty County, Georgia, United States, based in Hinesville. It serves the communities of Allenhurst, Flemington, Gumbranch, Hinesville, Midway, Riceboro, and Walthourville. It is the designated school district for grades K-12 for the county, except parts in Fort Stewart. Hinesville, Georgia
Hinesville is a city in Liberty County, Georgia, United States, located on the Atlantic coastal plain. The population was 33,437 at the 2010 census and an estimated 33,273 in 2019. The city is the county seat of Liberty County. It is the principal city of the Hinesville metropolitan area, which comprises all of Liberty County, including the Fort Stewart army installation, plus neighboring Long County. History Hinesville was founded in 1837. That same year, the seat of Liberty County was transferred to Hinesville from Riceboro. It was incorporated as a city in 1916. The city is named for Charleton Hines, a state senator. Midway, Georgia
Midway is a city in Liberty County, Georgia, United States. It is a part of the Hinesville-Fort Stewart metropolitan statistical area. The population was 2,121 as of the 2010 census, up from 1,100 at the 2000 census. Midway has several museums, including the Midway Museum and Cemetery and the Dorchester Academy Museum. The Midway Historic District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. History Midway's history dates back to the 18th century. Puritans migrated to St. John's Parish, Georgia, from Dorchester, South Carolina, in 1752 and established several settlements, including what became the Midway community. Bradwell Institute is a public high school located in Hinesville, Georgia, United States. It serves the western half of Hinesville, western Fort Stewart, Walthourville, Allenhurst, and Gumbranch. Fort Stewart is a United States Army post in the U.S. state of Georgia. It lies primarily in Liberty and Bryan counties, but also extends into smaller portions of Evans, Long and Tattnall counties. Walthourville is a city in Liberty County, Georgia, United States. When it was incorporated in 1974, it had a government entirely composed of women; and in 1978 it elected Carrie Kent, the first African-American woman mayor in Georgia history. History Walthourville draws its name from Andrew Walthour, a revolutionary soldier and a physician who established a plantation in the area circa 1795. Riceboro is a city in Liberty County, Georgia, United States. The population was 809 at the 2010 census. It is a part of the Hinesville-Fort Stewart metropolitan statistical area. History The community was named for the early rice industry in the area. Riceboro served as the second seat of Liberty County from 1789 until 1837.
