The Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS) ( sd, لياقت يونيورسٽي آف ميڊيڪل اينڊ هيلٿ سائنسز) is a public medical university located in Jamshoro, Sindh, Pakistan. Ever since it started as a medical school, it is known for its mission to bring innovative advances to medical education and to train undergraduate and postgraduate students with highest professional standards. It is in conjunction with Liaquat University Hospital and NIMRA Cancer Hospital. The university has been ranked among top medical schools by HEC. History LUMHS is the second oldest medical school in Pakistan and the oldest in Sindh. In 1879, it was recommended by a surgeon general and the Government of Bombay to the Commissioner in Sind to start a medical school. The governor of Sindh is the appointed head of the province of Sindh, Pakistan. The office of the governor as the head of the province is largely a ceremonial position; the executive powers lie with the chief minister and the chief secretary of Sindh. However, there were instances throughout the history of Pakistan, the powers of the provincial governors were vastly increased, when the provincial assemblies were dissolved and the administrative role came under direct control of the governors, as in the cases of martial laws of 1958–1972 and 1977–1985, and governor rules of 1999–2002. National Testing Service - Pakistan (NTS) is a nonprofit organization in Pakistan that administers academic performance evaluation tests. It is similar to Educational Testing Service (ETS) in the United States. NTS is a member of the International Association for Educational Assessment.
