Liam Dunne
Liam Dunne (born 12 June 1968) is an Irish former Hurling, hurler who played as a centre-back at senior level for the Wexford county hurling team, Wexford county team. Born in Oulart, County Wexford, Dunne first played competitive hurling during his schooling at Oulart National School. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of sixteen when he first linked up with the Wexford minor team before later joining the under-21 side. He made his senior debut during the 1988 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, 1988 championship. Dunne immediately became a regular member of the starting fifteen and won one All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, All-Ireland medal and two Leinster Senior Hurling Championship, Leinster medals. Oulart–The Ballagh is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in County Wexford, Ireland. The club takes its players primarily from the area around the villages of Oulart and The Ballagh. The club has won the Wexford Senior Hurling Championship on 13 occasions, most recently in 2016. Their main rivals are Buffers Alley. Leinster Minor Hurling Championship
The Leinster GAA Hurling Minor Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Electric Ireland Leinster GAA Hurling Minor Championship, is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Leinster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county hurling competition for male players under the age of 17 in the province of Leinster, and has been contested every year – except for a three-year absence during the Emergency – since the 1928 championship. The final, usually held on the last Sunday in June, serves as the culmination of a series of games played during April, May and June, and the results determine which team receives the Hanrahan Cup. Kevin Ryan (hurler)
Kevin Ryan (born 1965) is an Irish former hurler who played in various positions for the Waterford senior hurling team. Ryan made his first appearance for the team during the 1980–81 National League and became a regular member of the starting fifteen over the next decade. During that time he played a part in securing Waterford's promotion from Division 3 to the top flight of the National League. Ryan ended up as Munster runner-up on two occasions. At club level Ryan is a multiple county club championship medalist with Mount Sion. In retirement from playing Ryan became involved in team management. He first coached club sides Mount Sion and Oulart the Ballagh, before later serving as a selector and manager with the Waterford and Carlow senior hurling teams. Éamonn Scallan (born 1971 in Castletown, County Wexford) is an Irish former hurler who played for his local club Ferns St Aidan's and at senior level for the Wexford county team in the 1990s and 2000s. Tom Dempsey (hurler)
Thomas Dempsey (born 1965) is a retired Irish sportsperson. He played hurling with his local club Buffer's Alley and with the Wexford senior inter-county team from 1984 until 2000. Playing career Club Dempsey played his club hurling with the famous Buffer's Alley GAA club and enjoyed much success. He first came to prominence on the club's senior team in the early 1980s as the team was in the middle of completing a four in-a-row of county championship titles between 1982 and 1985. This last county title was later converted into a Leinster club title for Dempsey, but his side was beaten by Kilruane MacDonagh's of Tipperary in the All-Ireland final. 1988 saw Dempsey won another county title before later adding a second Leinster club medal to his collection. National Hurling League
The National Hurling League is an annual Inter county, inter-county hurling competition featuring teams from Ireland and England. Founded in 1925 by the Gaelic Athletic Association, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation within the league system. The league has 35 teams divided into six divisions, with either five or six teams in each division. Promotion and relegation between these divisions is a central feature of the league. Although primarily a competition for Irish teams, teams from England – currently Lancashire GAA, Lancashire, London GAA, London and Warwickshire GAA, Warwickshire – also take part, while in the past New York GAA, New York also fielded a team for the latter stages of the league. Oireachtas Tournament
The Oireachtas Cup was an annual hurling competition organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association between 1939 and 1999 for the top inter-county teams in Ireland. The series of games were usually played in the autumn months after the completion of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship. The prize for the winning team was the Oireachtas Cup and a special set of gold medals for the winning team. The tournament was initially a one-off challenge game between two top teams, however, as more teams entered a straight knock-out tournament developed. The Oireachtas Cup was a post-championship hurling competition, with large crowds at Croke Park on the day of the final. Over time, however, it fell out of favour with both players and supporters and was eventually scrapped.
