Liam Adams (runner)
Liam Adams (born 4 September 1986, Melbourne) is an Australian runner. He competed in the Summer Olympics in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro and qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Adams came 24th in the Men's marathon in a time of 2:15.51, 7 minutes behind the winner, Eliud Kipchoge of Kenya. Early years Adams was a very sporty and competitive child. He was advised by his primary school teacher to try cross country. In his second year, Adams won a medal in the nationals but it was only after a few years later that he decided to his training seriously. He began training with local coach Gregor Gojrzewski and this had a significant impact on his career. As a 17 year old, in 2004, Adams won the national junior 5000m championship. Later that year he won the national junior cross country title. He finished his junior career with a personal best in the 5000m of 14:30. Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon
The SMH Half Marathon is a half marathon run through Sydney's central business district. The course takes in such sites as The Rocks, the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Sydney Opera House, and the Royal Botanic Gardens. The race starts next to St Mary's Cathedral, and finishes in Hyde Park. Prior to 2008, the course ran a similar route, but started and finished near The Rocks. The event has a capacity field of 10,500, and entries are often closed weeks before race day. Athletics At The 2018 Commonwealth Games – Men's Marathon
The men's marathon at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, as part of the athletics programme, was held in Southport Broadwater Parklands, Gold Coast on 15 April 2018. Scotland's Callum Hawkins was the race leader with seven kilometres to go, and led the field by two minutes. At 28 degrees Celsius, the race conditions were unusually hot and Hawkins suffered exhaustion and collapsed on the road. He briefly tried to continue but again collapsed, hitting his head on the road side barrier. As race rules dictate that medics need athlete permission to intervene (and thus end the athlete's participation), he was left on the roadside for several minutes in view of spectators as he did not request assistance. The games organisers received criticism for not responding sooner to the athlete's distress, though the organisers stated that they had reacted in accordance to competition regulations. 2017 Berlin Marathon
The 2017 Berlin Marathon was the 44th edition of the Berlin Marathon. The marathon took place in Berlin, Germany, on 24 September 2017 and was the fourth World Marathon Majors race of the year. The men's race was won by Eliud Kipchoge, who failed to break the world record in rainy conditions, but withstood the terrific challenge of unknown marathon debutant Guye Adola. The women's race was won by Gladys Cherono of Kenya in 2:20:23, beating out Ruti Aga of Ethiopia by less than 20 seconds. The Orlen Warsaw Marathon is an annual road running event over the marathon distance () that takes place in April on the streets of Warsaw, Poland. The event was established in 2013 and has Polish oil company PKN Orlen as its title sponsor.
