Levon Isayevich Mirzoyan ( hy, Լևոն Եսայիի Միրզոյան; russian: Левон Исаевич Мирзоян) (14 November 1897 – 26 February 1939) was the Secretary of the Communist Party of the Azeri SSR from 21 January 1926 to 5 August 1929 and the First Secretary of the Communist Party of the Kazakh SSR from 5 December 1936 to 3 May 1938. He was executed during the Great Purge. Biography Mirzoyan was born in the village of Ashan in Shusha District of the Elisabethpol Governorate in an Armenian peasant family. In 1917, he joined the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party (RSDLP). In 1926–1929, he was the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan. In 1929–1933, he was the Secretary of the Perm Regional Committee, then the 2nd Secretary of the Ural Regional Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU). Yerevan State University (YSU; hy, Երևանի Պետական Համալսարան, ԵՊՀ, ''Yerevani Petakan Hamalsaran''), also simply University of Yerevan, is the oldest continuously operating public university in Armenia. Founded in 1919, it is the largest university in the country. It is thus informally known as Armenia's "mother university" (Մայր ԲՈւՀ, ''Mayr Buh''). Rehabilitation (russian: реабилитация, transliterated in English as ''reabilitatsiya'' or academically rendered as ''reabilitacija'') was a term used in the context of the former Soviet Union and the post-Soviet states. Beginning after the death of Stalin in 1953, the government undertook the political and social restoration, or political rehabilitation, of persons who had been repressed and criminally prosecuted without due basis. It restored the person to the state of acquittal. In many cases, rehabilitation was posthumous, as thousands of victims had been executed or died in labor camps.
