"Letters From War" is a single by singer/songwriter Mark Schultz on his third album Stories & Songs. Inspired by Schultz' family, this Contemporary Christian / Pop song released in 2003 along with its music video and has won several awards and appeared on ''WOW Hits 2005''. Background Mark Schultz stated that the song was written in honor of his Great-Grandmother's sons. All 3 of the boys went to fight in World War II. Her 2 older boys came home a short time later but her youngest son was there until the end of the war. The song itself tells of a young man going off to fight in a war. His mother writes daily, and he writes back. One day in December, she gets a letter from a fellow soldier that her son was captured by the enemy while saving him. Mark Mitchell Schultz (born September 16, 1970) is an American contemporary Christian music artist. He has been nominated for numerous Dove Awards, winning his first at the 2006 Dove Awards when the CD/DVD ''Mark Schultz Live: A Night of Stories & Songs'' was named Long Form Music Video of the Year. Background Mark Schultz was adopted at two weeks old by his parents Gary and Ronita Schultz in Kansas City, Kansas. He has an older brother, Brad and a younger sister, Susan. Most of his childhood was spent in Colby, KS where he attended Colby Elementary School. When he was about eight years old, Schultz began to teach himself piano by ear. A Dove Award is an accolade by the Gospel Music Association (GMA) of the United States to recognize outstanding achievement in the Christian music industry. The awards are presented annually.
