Rancid is an American punk rock band formed in Berkeley, California in 1991. Founded by Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman, former members of the band Operation Ivy (band), Operation Ivy, Rancid is often credited as being among the wave of bands that revived mainstream interest in punk rock in the United States during the mid-1990s. Over their -year career, Rancid retained much of its original fan-base, most of which was connected to its underground musical roots. Rancid has had two lineup changes since its inception, with Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman being continuous members. KROQ Weenie Roast is a multi-artist music concert, presented annually in May by the Los Angeles, California, modern rock radio station KROQ-FM. Since its beginning in 1993, it has been traditionally held on a Saturday in May or June, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there have been no editions of the festival since 2019. Overview Every year, the KROQ Weenie Roast had taken place at Irvine Meadows/Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre, in Irvine, California with exception in 2000 when it was held at the Angel Stadium, then-known as the Edison International Field, in Anaheim, California. In 2016 Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre was demolished, and KROQ responded by announcing that the 2017 edition would take place at StubHub Center in Carson. ''Tim Timebomb'' is a music project by Tim Armstrong, best known as a member of the punk rock band Rancid. Armstrong has recorded a large number of songs – a mixture of cover versions, including Rancid covers, and original songs, including some tracks from his musical film project ''RocknNRoll Theater'' – with a variety of supporting musicians. A selection of the material was first released as a download only album ''Tim Timebomb Sings Songs from RocknNRoll Theater'' – this consisting of original songs featured in Armstrong's musical film series "RockNRoll Theatre". Devils Brigade is an American rock band formed as a side project by Rancid bassist Matt Freeman in 2000. In Devils Brigade Freeman performs a mix of punk rock and psychobilly styles, singing lead vocals and playing a double bass in contrast to the backing vocals and bass guitar he performs in Rancid. He was backed by his Rancid bandmates for singles released in 2003 and 2005, and recruited X drummer DJ Bonebrake to play on Devils Brigade's eponymous debut album in 2010. ''Rancid'' (also known as ''Rancid 5'' or ''Rancid 2000'' to avoid confusion with their debut album) is the eponymously titled fifth studio album by the American punk rock band Rancid, released on August 1, 2000. It is the second eponymous album and the first to be released through frontman Tim Armstrong's label, Hellcat Records. It also features the return of producer Brett Gurewitz, who has produced every subsequent album by the band. Production and composition Recording concluded in April 2000. It is Rancid's most hardcore offering to date, which was released as a follow-up to the more ska and reggae oriented '' Life Won't Wait''. ''Let's Go'' is the second studio album by the American punk rock band Rancid. It was released on June 21, 1994, through Epitaph Records and was the band's first album to feature Lars Frederiksen on guitar. The album initially achieved little mainstream success, though it appealed to the band's fanbase.
