Les Robinson (footballer)
Leslie Robinson (born 1 March 1967) is an English retired footballer who played as a defender. He played for Chesterfield, Mansfield Town, Stockport County, Doncaster Rovers, Banbury United and spent ten years at Oxford United where he is sixth in the list of players with the most appearances. Born and raised in Shirebrook, the defender played football for Chesterfield F.C., before turning professional with Mansfield Town F.C. in 1984. Two years later he was sold on to Stockport County F.C. for a free transfer. He was sold on to Doncaster Rovers F.C. for £10,000. In March 1990, he was transferred to Oxford United for £150,000. He would later become the captain of Oxford and make 459 appearances for them. In the later parts of his career and especially following retirement, Robinson's life changed. Shirebrook
Shirebrook is a town in the Bolsover (district), Bolsover district in Derbyshire, England. Close to the boundaries with the districts of Mansfield District, Mansfield and Bassetlaw District, Bassetlaw of Nottinghamshire,OS Explorer Map 270: Sherwood Forest: (1:25 000): it had a population of 13,300 in 2001, reducing to 9,760 at the 2011 Census. It is on the B6407, and close to the A632 road, between Mansfield and Bolsover. The town is served by Shirebrook railway station, on the Robin Hood Line. Paul Wanless
Paul Steven Wanless (born 14 December 1973) is an English former professional footballer who played in the Football League as a midfielder for Oxford United, Lincoln City and Cambridge United. Playing career Wanless was born in Banbury. He began his career as a trainee at Oxford United, coming through the ranks to make a handful of first team appearances before moving to Lincoln City in 1995 on a free transfer. His chances with Lincoln were limited and he spent some time out on loan at non-league side Woking. Wanless then left Lincoln and moved to Cambridge United, where he made nearly 350 appearances in all competitions over a seven-year period and became club captain. A return to his first club, Oxford United, in 2003 saw him make more than 60 appearances in his last spell in the Football League. Alan Kennedy
Alan Kennedy (born 31 August 1954) is an English former professional footballer who played the majority of his career as a left back for Newcastle United and then Liverpool. He was a stalwart member of the latter team that won many honours from the late 1970s to the mid-1980s. In all Kennedy was active as a professional in England, Denmark, Belgium and Wales, making over 500 appearances in a career that lasted for 22 years. Phil Neal
Philip George Neal (born 20 February 1951) is an English retired footballer who played for Northampton Town, Liverpool and Bolton Wanderers as a full back. He is one of the most successful English players of all time, having won seven First Divisions, four League Cups, five FA Charity Shields, four European Cups, one UEFA Cup and one UEFA Super Cup during his eleven years at Liverpool. He later returned to Bolton Wanderers as manager, leading them to victory in the Football League Trophy before spells managing Coventry City, Cardiff City and Manchester City.
