Leonard Chamberlain
William Leonard Chamberlain (15 January 1889 – 21 March 1956) was an Australian first-class cricketer who played Sheffield Shield cricket for South Australia. He was also an Australian rules footballer for Norwood in the South Australian Football League (SAFL). An all-rounder, Chamberlain got his first called up to the South Australian team in the 1907/08 cricket season, when he played against the touring Marylebone Cricket Club in a first-class fixtures. Chamberlain, who dismissed Test player Jack Crawford for his maiden wicket, made his Sheffield Shield debut three weeks later. He participated in South Australia's 1912/13 Shield winning campaign, scoring 166 runs and taking eight wickets from his three matches. His wickets tally was the third highest for South Australia but perhaps his best moment came with the bat when he came in at five and amassed 103 in just 130 minutes against New South Wales at Adelaide Oval. Port Adelaide is a port-side region of Adelaide, approximately northwest of the Adelaide city centre, Adelaide CBD. The New South Wales men's cricket team (formerly named NSW Blues) are an Australian men's professional first class cricket team based in Sydney, New South Wales. The team competes in the Australian first class cricket competition known as the Sheffield Shield and the limited overs Marsh One-Day Cup. The team previously played in the now defunct Twenty20, Big Bash, which has since been replaced by the Big Bash League since the 2011–12 season. John Aloysius Chamberlain (29 August 1884 – 1 April 1941) was an Australian sportsman who played Australian rules football, cricket and rugby union at a high level. Family The son of Edmund Chamberlain (1827–1891), and Mary Ann Chamberlain (-1916), John Aloysius Chamberlain was born in Glanville, South Australia on 29 August 1884. He married Vera Evelyn Ellen Sedgley (1898–1982) on 7 February 1920. They had three daughters: twins, Helen, and Joan Mary, and their younger sister, Annette. Two of his brothers, Cornelius and Leonard, were also gifted sportsmen, who also league football with Norwood and first-class cricket for South Australia. Adelaide Oval is a sports ground in Adelaide, South Australia, located in the parklands between the city centre and North Adelaide. The venue is predominantly used for cricket and Australian rules football, but has also played host to rugby league, rugby union, soccer, tennis among other sports as well as regularly being used to hold concerts.
