Lentz House (Hotel Sheller)
Lentz House (Hotel Sheller) is a historic hotel located at North Manchester, Wabash County, Indiana. It was built in 1881, and is a -story, rectangular, Second Empire style brick building. The third story was added in 1896 and attached to the main building is a two-story frame wing built in 1847. It has a mansard roof with dormers and features a wraparound porch. North Manchester, Indiana
North Manchester is a town in Chester Township, Wabash County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. The population was 6,112 at the 2010 census. Geography North Manchester is located at (41.003951, -85.772573). According to the 2010 census, North Manchester has a total area of , of which (or 97.78%) is land and (or 2.22%) is water. History Peter Ogan, acting as the town's founder filed for recording the 'Original Plat of Manchester' on February 13, 1846. The community was named after Manchester, in England. Wabash County is a county located in the northern central part of the U.S. state of Indiana. As of 2020, the population was 30,976. The county seat is Wabash. History The area was inhabited for thousands of years by cultures of indigenous peoples. French explorers and traders encountered the historical Miami Native Americans beginning in the 17th century. Mansard Roof
A mansard or mansard roof (also called a French roof or curb roof) is a four-sided gambrel-style hip roof characterised by two slopes on each of its sides, with the lower slope, punctured by dormer windows, at a steeper angle than the upper. The steep roof with windows creates an additional floor of habitable space (a garret), and reduces the overall height of the roof for a given number of habitable storeys.
