Leland Vittert
Leland Holt Vittert (born August 31, 1982) is an American journalist who is the anchor and national correspondent for NewsNation. He worked for Fox News from 2010 to 2021, initially as a foreign correspondent based in Jerusalem and later as a news presenter. He was a substitute host on ''Fox & Friends'', ''America's Newsroom'', and ''Happening Now''. Early life and education Vittert was born on August 31, 1982 in Illinois. Vittert earned a Bachelor of Arts from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, where he joined Theta Chi. He also completed The General Course, a one-year study abroad program at the London School of Economics. Career During the 2000s, Vittert anchored the weekend news at KDVR-TV in Denver, Colorado and was a reporter for WFTV-TV in Orlando, Florida. WFTV (channel 9) is a television station in Orlando, Florida, United States, affiliated with ABC. It is owned by Cox Media Group alongside independent station WRDQ (channel 27). Both stations share studios on East South Street (SR 15) in downtown Orlando, while WFTV's transmitter is located near Christmas, Florida. The station's signal is relayed through a UHF digital translator on channel 19 in Deltona (transmitting from WNUE-FM's tower). History The station first signed on the air on February 1, 1958, under the callsign WLOF-TV (standing for "We Love Orlando, Florida"). It has been an ABC affiliate since the station's inception. For years, the station was owned by the Mid-Florida Television Corporation, which was a consortium of local investors. Channel 9 changed its callsign to the current WFTV in 1963. The Arab Spring ( ar, الربيع العربي) was a series of anti-government protests, uprisings and armed rebellions that spread across much of the Arab world in the early 2010s. It began in Tunisia in response to corruption and economic stagnation. From Tunisia, the protests then spread to five other countries: Libya, Egypt, Yemen, Syria and Bahrain. Rulers were deposed (Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, Muammar Gaddafi, Hosni Mubarak, Ali Abdullah Saleh) or major uprisings and social violence occurred including riots, civil wars, or insurgencies. ''The Daily Caller'' is a right-wing news and opinion website based in Washington, D.C. It was founded by now-Fox News host Tucker Carlson and political pundit Neil Patel in 2010. Launched as a "conservative answer to ''The Huffington Post''", ''The Daily Caller'' quadrupled its audience and became profitable by 2012, surpassing several rival websites by 2013. In 2020, the site was described by ''The New York Times'' as having been "a pioneer in online conservative journalism". ''The Daily Caller'' is a member of the White House press pool. ''The Daily Caller'' has published false stories on multiple occasions, and declined to correct them when they were shown to be untrue.
