Karel Bendl
Karel Bendl, or german: Karl Bendl, pseudonym: ''Podskalský'' (16 April 1838, Prague, Bohemia, Austrian Empire 20 September 1897, Prague) was a Czech composer. Life Bendl was born and died in Prague. He studied at the organ school, where he met and befriended Antonín Dvořák one year before graduating with honors in 1858. By then he had already composed a number of small choral works. In 1861 his ''Poletuje holubice'' won a prize and at once became a favorite with the local choral societies. In 1864, Bendl went to Brussels, where for a short time he held the post of second conductor of the opera. After visiting Amsterdam and Paris. In Paris, he became influenced by the stage works of Charles Gounod and Ambroise Thomas and especially by Giacomo Meyerbeer. Karel Šebor
Karel Richard Šebor (13 August 1843 – 18 May 1903) was a Czech opera composer. Life He was born in Brandýs nad Labem and raised by his grandfather, a teacher who discovered his musical talent. Šebor attended the Prague Conservatory from the age of twelve and, inspired by Beethoven's '' Symphony No. 9'', had a first own symphony performed in 1859. From 1861 he worked as a music teacher in Warsaw, but left during the 1863 January Uprising to work as a ''Kapellmeister'' in Erfurt. Back in Prague, he became music director at the National Theatre and had his first resounding success at the age of 22 with ''The Templars in Moravia''. Likewise, his second and third opera ''Drahomíra'' and ''Nevěsta husitská'' ("The Hussite Bride") were well received. However, in 1871 he fell out with the theatre management and took up a post at the Lemberg Theatre. Provisional Theatre (Prague)
The Prague Provisional Theatre ( cz, Prozatímní divadlo, ) was erected in 1862 as a temporary home for Czech drama and opera until a permanent National Theatre could be built. It opened on 18 November 1862 and functioned for 20 years, during which time over 5,000 performances were presented. Between 1866 and 1876 the theatre staged the premieres of four of Bedřich Smetana's operas, including ''The Bartered Bride''. The Provisional Theatre building was eventually incorporated into the structure of the National Theatre, which opened its doors on 11 June 1881. Origins Before the early 1860s almost all cultural institutions in Prague, including theatre and opera, were in Austrian hands. Bohemia was a province of the Habsburg Empire, and under that regime's absolutist rule most aspects of Czech culture and national life had been discouraged or suppressed. Ivan Kusnjer
Ivan Kusnjer (born 10 November 1951) is a Czech baritone opera singer.''ND a jeho předchůdci'' Vladimír Procházka - 1988 "KUSNJER Ivan * 10. 11. 1951 Rokycany. Zpévák. He graduated from the Music Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, studying with Teodor Šrubař. He performed as an opera singer on stages in Ostrava and Brno. In 1982 he started to work at the National Theatre in Prague. He also attended voice master classes at Accademia Sigiana in Siena and Accademia Santa Cecilia in Rome.
