Leeds Festival Fringe
Leeds Festival Fringe is a 7-day grassroots music festival held across several music venues in Leeds in the week prior to Leeds and Reading Festival. It was created in 2010 to showcase local talent before the main festival hits town. Throughout the week, local promoters, bands, fanzines and on-line music communities all have their "takeover" of Leeds Festival Fringe thus bringing everyone who works all year round to benefit the local music scene together under one banner during one week. The first year was very successful with over 120 performances, over 400 musicians playing in one week. 2010 The 2010 event took place between 19 and 25 August. Leeds
Leeds () is a city and the administrative centre of the City of Leeds district in West Yorkshire, England. It is built around the River Aire and is in the eastern foothills of the Pennines. It is also the third-largest settlement (by population) in England, after London and Birmingham. The city was a small manorial borough in the 13th century and a market town in the 16th century. It expanded by becoming a major production centre, including of carbonated water where it was invented in the 1760s, and trading centre (mainly with wool) for the 17th and 18th centuries. It was a major mill town during the Industrial Revolution. Leeds And Reading Festivals
The Reading and Leeds Festivals are a pair of annual music festivals that take place in Reading and Leeds in England. The events take place simultaneously on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the August bank holiday weekend. The Reading Festival is held at Little John's Farm on Richfield Avenue in central Reading, near Caversham Bridge. The Leeds event is held in Bramham Park, near Wetherby, the grounds of a historic house. Headliners and most supporting acts typically play at both sites, with Reading's Friday line up becoming Leeds' Saturday line-up, Reading's Saturday line-up playing at Leeds on Sunday, and Leeds' Friday line-up attending Reading on Sunday. Campsites are available at both sites and weekend tickets include camping. Day tickets are also sold. The Reading Festival, the older of the two festivals, is the world's oldest popular music festival still in existence. Black Diamond Bay (UK)
Black Diamond Bay (UK) is an English independent electronic band formed in 2008, based in Leeds and London. The band consists of Agne Motie, Jesse O'Mahoney, Tom Sidebottom, Ben Ziapour, Ben Wilson and Colin Sutton. They produce and play live in several electronic dance music styles including Slo-Mo House and electronic music. History Black Diamond Bay was formed by Jesse O'Mahoney and Tom Sidebottom and was realised fully as a live band in 2006 when they recruited four other band members. In 2010 they signed a recording deal with Exceptional Records, with whom they have released an album, ''Come The Desert'', in March 2011, along with several singles and an EP. The band have a strong Lithuanian following in London. Louise Distras
Louise Distras is an English singer, songwriter and musician from Wakefield, West Yorkshire. Early life Louise Distras was born in Wakefield, a city in the North of England, in 1987. She taught herself to play the violin at an early age and later learned to play guitar by "bunking off school and smoking cigarettes" and listening to Nirvana's debut album ''Bleach''. Distras ran away from home in her teens. In a 2019 interview with '' The Chronicle'' she said "being able to escape into songwriting and guitar-playing is what got me through."
