Lee Howard (journalist)
Leon Alexander Lee Howard (1914–1978), known as Lee Howard, was a British newspaper editor. Born in London, Howard was educated privately.Margaret Connolly and Mervyn O. Pragnall, ''The International Yearbook and Statesman's Who's Who (1975)'', p.498 He served with the Royal Air Force during World War II, initially as part of the Coastal Command, then later with the RAF Film Unit. Anthony John Miles (18 July 1930 – 14 April 2018), better known as Tony Miles, was a British newspaper editor. Miles grew up in High Wycombe. After attending the Royal Grammar School, High Wycombe from 1942 to 1946, he worked on the '' Middlesex Advertiser'', ''Nottingham Guardian'' and ''Evening Argus'', before joining the ''Daily Mirror'' in 1954, as a feature writer. Jack Nener
Jack Nener (1902 – 27 November 1982) was a Welsh newspaper editor. Born in Swansea, Nener was educated at Dynevor School and Swansea Technical College. He became a journalist with the ''South Wales Evening Post'' then moved to the '' Western Mail'' and onto the ''Cardiff Evening Express''. In 1943, he moved to London to become night editor and chief sub-editor on the ''Daily Mirror''. In 1953, Nener became editor of the ''Mirror'', and the following year, he married Audrey Whiting, the paper's chief European correspondent. Under his editorship, the paper's sales increased to four million a day. However, in his obituary, the ''Mirror'' stated that "he didn't do it with charm. He wasn't a man to shrink from using two expletives when one would suffice". Colin Valdar (18 December 1918 – 11 January 1996) was a British newspaper editor. Valdar studied at Haberdashers' Aske's Boys' School, then in Hampstead. He worked as a freelance journalist from 1935 to 39, then served with the Royal Engineers during World War II. In 1942, he became features editor with the '' Sunday Pictorial'', soon moving to become assistant editor. In 1946, he moved to the ''Daily Express'', again as features editor, and in 1951, they too promoted Valdar to assistant editor. In 1953, Valdar returned to the ''Sunday Pictorial'' as editor, serving until 1959.
